Just spit balling here after reading some of the trade proposals. Detroit needs (should) to rebuild. They are going nowhere with the way the current team is constructed. I am convinced that they need to completely blow it up. Drummond is rumored to be opting out and I think the Pistons should move him before the seasons out. He will be one of the top free agents in this upcoming years class and his Bird rights are worth something. All of them are separate deals and can be done independently. Not sure how realistic some of the trades are but here it goes!
Trade one
DET out: Drummond
ATL out: BRK 2020 1st (if 15-30), OKC 2022 1st (if 15-30)
Why DET? Picks help the rebuild even in a weak(er) draft
Why ATL? Drummond Is still young and ATL has been rumored to be interested in signing him in free agency. Gives them a chance to see how he fits and they gain his Bird rights. The ability to offer a five year deal vs four can be huge. In exchange for two mid to late 1st rnd picks.
Trade two
After Nurkic is back and if Blake is healthy
DET out: Griffin, Maker 2021 LAL 2nd
POR out: Whiteside, Collins, Little
Why DET? Moves on from the twin towers experiment and commits them to a rebuild while picking up two prospects.
Why POR? Blake could help them in the playoff run. It is looking like they are interested in him or Love, Both have about the same injury history and I put Blake as being the better player. (Would also do it without Little and the LAL 2nd)
Trade three
DET out: Rose
LAL out: Cousins, Kuzma
Why DET? Kuzma is a player that might just need a change of scenery. DET takes a chance on him becoming more than he is currently.
Why LAL? Lakers need a PG off the bench that can score in the second unit. They are looking to compete this year and Rose can help with both. Cousins is out for the season and is dead weight Kuzma has not been consistent this season and might not be a good fit.
Trade Four
DET out: Morris
HOU out: 2020 2nd, 2021 2nd
Why DET? Picks for the rebuild.
Why HOU? Morris is playing well and can help them win this year.

Re: Are these trades realistic if we rebuild?
I like the effort but first trade what player/salary do we get for Drummond. Gotta match his $26million.
Wish Blake was healthy or gets healthy enough to where we can do a trade similar to this. And with Drummond hopefully being dealt we get whiteside who is similar to Drummond and then obviously young guys in Little and Collins. Would luv that.
Dont see Lakers giving up Kuz for Rose but I'm sure theres a team out there that could give us something for him.
Drummond for Batum and young player and/or picks or THJr and pick or player is about the best we should get and I'm ok with that. Time to move on and move forward
C-Whiteside
PF-Collins
SF-Little
SG-Luke
PG-? Hopefully Drummond trade gets us a young PG
Drummond to Knicks for DSmith and fuller or to Spurs for DMurray and filler and all of a sudden we have ourselves a decent young team. Still would have Sekou and our draft pick this summer. Let's go Stefanski!

#1 - no, teams that can have cap space this summer aren't giving up picks for dre
#2 - no, griffin isn't bringing back anything positive unless he shows he is healthy
#3 - maybe, LA might make a win now trade like this, but I think kuzma has more value
#4 - no, doubt Houston is paying extra luxury task for kief.

Re: Are these trades realistic if we rebuild?
Why would any team trade for Dre when the indications are that he’ll opt for free agency?

Because they are capped out and won't be able to sign him as a FA otherwise. Of course, they'll want to get assurances from his agent that he'll resign.
Or they want him as a piece for a championship run are willing to risk it.

Totally valid point in theory. But if you know Drummond like we do, how does any GM/coach say “THAT’S the guy who will put us over the top”?
