Is Damian Lillard a Hall of Famer?

Post#1 » by SOdisciple » Fri Jan 31, 2020 10:09 pm

Keeping with some of the topics on the GB...

Is he right now? When he retires?

I don't think he is at all now, but we'll see by the end of his career.

He is a better player than say, someone like Reggie Miller, so I would say yes. NBA Hall of Fame lets everyone in.

Definitely. I mean, even if he had a career ending injury or worse, he’d get in because it would be tragic and he’ll be 30 next year. He has been very good for quite awhile and has had huge moments. Can’t really see a scenario he isn’t unless he just quit today for no reason.

No big career achievements with the team so far, but individually, Lillard is for sure on the legit road to the HoF.

5-time All-Star and 4-time (5 if we count this season already) member of the All-NBA teams already at 29, and I guess he will represent the USA this season in Tokyo (aka add to him one Olympic gold too). Following all trends, he will be fully qualified already somewhere in 2022!

He has had more playoff success as a team leader than several players in the hall of fame.

Let's say Clippers fail to win one the next few years. PG retires without one. Dame never wins one. who has better odds? Im leaning Dame

I was just looking at BBREF’s Hall of Fame probabilities a week ago, and Dame was at 47%. With his 5th All-Star appearance announced since then, he’s jumped to 72% in their model.

Seems like he’s pretty close at the moment, so good question, OP! I am obviously biased as a Blazer fan and would love him to get in, but I think he needs a couple more high-level seasons before his induction feels secure.

People act like everyone in the HoF had at least one NBA Finals appearance which is a joke.

I will also say a WCF appearance as the main man of a team is worth about 3-4 appearances as a decent starter on a NBA Finals team.

He hasn't clinched it but at this rate it'll be a shock if he doesn't make it.

All-NBA fist team once, second team twice. Players at that level are all almost all in.

The only way I can imagine him missing is if the next generation comes on super strong and he gets crowded out by slightly younger players. Or if the HOF somehow becomes more selective.

Yeah he's pretty close now. If he can sustain his form and barring any unforeseen circumstances, he should be a near lock after the end of next season and basically a lock after 2 more seasons.

Perhaps not now, but in a couple years he'll pass Clyde as the Blazers all-time leading scorer. At that point, I'd say he's a shoo-in for the HOF.

Yes and I didn't even have to think twice about it.

dame came in the league at late age (22), his accomplishments would be better if he was drafted three years earlier

Even if the appearance was a sweep? Feels like Dame needs to add more to his resume I’m not even sure if he is a lock to make a all-nba team this year.

He will coast to the HOF. EVERYBODY makes the HOF (except Webber who is a ridiculous snub)
