Best Offer for a Bogdan Bogdanovic S&T?

Post#1 » by bpcox05 » Fri Aug 14, 2020 10:43 pm

If the Kings are looking to reset/rebuild around Fox (and Bagley to a lesser extent) & collect young assets/picks for their veterans, what would be the best offer they could get in a Bogdan Bogdanovic S&T?

How about:

S&T Bogdan, Joseph
For
Conley, #21

Jazz make D-Mitch their pg, and double up on the Bogs.

Jazz apparently like him and would show interest. Not sure what deal could be made though.

Would be great to have the double-bogey in Utah.

I don't think you can combine players in a S&T so the Kings could only send out Bogdanovic.

Also, I'm assuming his new signed contract won't be high enough to make a Conley for Bogdan swap legal. Unless Utah is okay with trading Conley for Bogdanovic making at least $27.5mil in his first year (which seems like a big overpay).

Lastly, I don't think UTA can trade this year's first. FA is after the draft, so Utah would have to send the Kings the player they drafted (which is never really preferable as a team wants to draft "their guy") or send them a future 1st.

Bogi seems like a Spurs guy to me, problem is they'd need to offload salary

What about to the Suns for Oubre?

They get more years on control with Bogi?

You can. This part is not a problem.

You can combine the players as above, so this part is not a problem.

You are 100% right. This part is a problem.

We'd have to do this after the draft right? But White sure looks good as a prospect to me.

I'd highly likely take White + and salary filler. No pick needs to go out this way.

Oh really? Was it ever a limitation in the CBA? Could have swore you couldn't combine players to the player that is being S&T.

But if not, I would be open to a Bogdanovic & Joseph for Conley & a future 1st (2021 or 2022) swap.

How do Utah fans feel about that type of deal?

From my perspective, I would prefer a future 1st vs. someone like Oubre or DeRozan/White.

With Vlade gone, I'm hoping for a "true" rebuild, and from my perspective, that would be cashing in on Bogdanovic, Hield, Barnes, Bjelica, & Holmes for future assets.

I love the idea of grabbing White. Hes clearly getting better. I just hate the idea of bringing in Derozan. If bjelica got us white, I'd look to flip hield elsewhere.

Would the 10th pick + Francesco Kaminsky the third, work?

The kings can decline Frankie K's team option to clear the salary.

Bogdan son of Bogdan would work great off the bench in Phoenix.

Rubio/ Payne /Jevon
Booker /Bogdan /Jevon
Bridges / Oubre
Cam J / Saric
Ayton / the big Wombat

I don't think the Kings can decline Kaminsky's option. If you're going to trade Kaminsky, you'd have to guarantee his contract for that year before trading him (if I'm not mistaken). Now guaranteeing Kaminsky's deal for the 2020-21 season is not a deal breaker from the Kings perspective at all so this comment may be moot in the end.

First things first, #10 can't be included in a S&T as Free Agency occurs after the draft. You could potentially trade who you take at #10 but a decent chunk of the value in trading a pick is to allow the team getting the pick to take the guy they want.

But let's assume we just make it a 2021 1st or 2022 1st instead (to solve that issue). Kaminsky's contract won't be enough to make salaries match up (think it's pretty realistic to expect Bogdan to get above $13+ mil). That means you have to use your cap space to make this deal work, and if you're using your cap space (and Kaminsky is a non-guaranteed deal), why wouldn't you just outright sign Bogdan and force Sacramento to make a decision on matching?

Now we could always match to keep him as an asset so you could be thinking of making a deal like this so you don't have to deal with the Kings matching, but I'm trying to think of deals where a team made a trade for a restricted player when they could have had the cap space to sign him outright. I can't think of any off the top of my head.
