This past decade had the most parity.

From 2011 to 2020 7 teams won rings (Mavericks, Heat, Spurs, Warriors, Cavaliers, Raptors, and the Lakers).
However, from 1981 to 1990 only 4 teams won rings (Celtics, Lakers, Pistons, and the 76ers).
From 1991-2000 only 4 teams won rings (Bulls, Rockets, Spurs, and Lakers).
Finally, from 2001 to 2010 only 5 teams won rings (Lakers, Spurs, Pistons, Heat, and the Celtics).
The folks who whine about "lack of parity" should be happier now (in theory). It is an indisputable fact that the past decade has been the most balanced.

In the past 10 years LeBron or KD have moved to different teams to form superteams and win in cities known to have great nightlife.
I'd rather have them actually be the face of a franchise and try to write their own history and win it than just watch free agency jerk off fest of who can be the biggest coward with the most talent in the league.

Both of those guys have always been the faces of different franchises. There is nothing cowardly about them either. I personally have immense respect for both men.

I dont think parity is defined by how many different teams win. I think its defined by how many contend or are in a position to contend.
So the answers is the 90s. In the 90s you never knew who was coming out of the West. The Bulls were usually the favorites but they always had a legitimate Eastern Conf. teams to challenge them.

I do think there's greater parity overall than before.
However the other takeaway here is that LeBron is essentially a dynasty on his own. He built his Heat, Cavs, and Lakers squads. That's insane.

What makes this parity feel less substantial is that LBJ was on 3 of those teams, Leonard was on 2 of them, and the Warriors* had 3.
It feels like LBJ, Warriors, Leonard with the exception that was the 2011 Mavs Champion.

They did dominate, however three other teams did win.
Nowadays the NBA's talent pool is more stacked (which is a great thing). I don't believe that another team will win 6 rings in 8 years ever again.
