KCP is probably going to be a UFA.....much rather have Huerter either way who’s the only secondary playmaker on the team currently (which Schlenk values highly). Also has the Hawks giving up the lottery protected OKC 22 pick. Huge overpay even if KCP was locked up cheap.

No.
KCP has a player option and likely to decline yo become a FA. If he's interested in the Hawks he can sign as a FA.
Chris Paul isn't worth all a young player and two picks. He went from having negative to nuetral value this season, but it's still $41 million dollars to move.

This is a really bad trade for Atlanta...Why would we give up Huerter to trade for KCP when we can just sign KCP outright in Free Agency?

JD Tailor of SB Nation’s Welcome To Loud City proposed a three-way blockbuster deal involving the Lakers, Thunder, and the Atlanta Hawks that would allow Paul to reunite with his close pal LeBron in Los Angeles.

In the suggested trade scenario, the Lakers will receive CP3 and Terrance Ferguson, the Hawks will obtain Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (via sign-and-trade deal), and the Thunder will acquire Kevin Huerter, Danny Green, JaVale McGee, Quinn Cook, a 2022 first-round pick, and a 2027 first-round pick. If the deal becomes a reality, Tailor believes it will help the Lakers, Thunder, and the Hawks in filling up the needs to improve on their roster.

For the Hawks, the potential deal is about giving the face of the franchise, Trae Young, veteran help next year. Having a defensive specialist like Caldwell-Pope will enable Young to reserve his energy on the offensive end of the floor. Also, sharing the court with another reliable three-point shooter will make it easier for Young to penetrate the basket or kick the ball out when he’s trapped by the opposing team’s defense.

The Hawks are also including the 2022 OKC pjck back to them. This is beyond horrible for the Hawks.

Red Velvet is a Hawk and one of the central core. A keeper. Others keep wanting the Hawks to give them #6 draft pick and Huerter.
Do you ever stop and ask. Why?

Others want our starting center when we haven't watched him as a Hawk. Capela is now a part of our core. If you want to know what you really have, notice who the other NBA teams want to trade for.

Atlanta has rebuilt, from the ground up. Finally, we have our team. Others would like to have what we have right now. Good players who can and will win their share of games.

This. There is zero reason for you guys to give up anything of value when you can get KCP by just signing him into space yourself. I know he helped get a championship, but me personally I might rather have Huerter anyway...

I did not come up with this trade. I just saw it and shared it. For the record I would not trade Huerter and 6 for KCP. I would however sign him via free agency.

You all should know by now that I like offense better than defense. Huerter is better on offense because of his ball handling and play making than KCP, but KCP is miles better than Huerter on defense.

So if we had a secondary play maker who was a true #2, then I would rather have KCP.

He has a player option. If he ops in we would have to trade for him. If he ops out (which is more than likely what he will do) then he would be a free agent.
