If we only give up Kuzma & Danny Green I would do that trade without hesitation. He only has 1 year left on that contract for 27 mil. He's an unrestricted free agent after that so the Lakers still preserve their cap for another max guy in 2021-2022 or sign him for a team-friendly deal if he wants to stay in his hometown (which would make sense because of COVID). As for the Spurs, Pop was always high on Kuz when he was playing for team USA. Maybe he saw something none of us Lakers fans seem to. He's too up and down on offense, but I thought his defense improved a lot this year. Danny Green is obviously familiar with the Spurs system so he's a perfect fit.

Edit: this would also give the Lakers relief on committing to signing Rondo. DeMar could fill that gap, together with Caruso if we're starting Carso from next season on. This is only beneficial for the Lakers. Would even throw a pick in if need be.

Didn't like the idea initially, but I'm slowly warming up to it. DeRozan is a good playmaker and shot creator. As a third option I'd be willing to look past some of his shortcomings. Lakers just proved that a lack of 3pt shooting means nothing when you have Lebron and AD. I'm skeptical about his defense though, he would absolutely have to buy in on that end of the floor.

Some weird irony though if DeMar becomes the 3rd "star" that Kawhi was supposed to be and then basically ensures Kawhi never gets another one after the one he got in Toronto.

Sounds like a win win to me.DeMar has never really fit in well in the Spurs system and the Spurs are finally after 20 plus years entering into a rebuild mode so added Kuzma to the mix of young talent on the roster works.Plus bring in a true vet and Spurs guy like Danny can help Pop in terms of teaching the Spurs way and also add credibilty as he's a multiple time champion and could add a little scoring punch off the bench along side Patty Mills.

Demar is really good if his role is being 3rd scoring option, and his ability to facilitate the ball as gotten better since he got traded from the Raptors.

His defensive weaknesses could easily be compensated for in a team like the Lakers.

And the Lakers would be getting a solid 20ppg scorer who can run with their 1st or second line.

If the Lakers somehow get Derozan for only Kuzma and Green that's a hella of steal. The Lakers would regress defensively but DeMar is a bonafide scorer, and I'm saying this as one of the DD's biggest critics during his Toronto tenure on the Raptors board.

He would take immense pressure off of LBJ and AD showing up every night.
