Trading Covington for junk, who they basically went all in for when they traded Capela for him. Harden and Westrook are on their ways out as well. Can this be the worst team in the league next year?

Not the worst in the league but they're getting worse.

Blowing it up at every level. They just need to sell the team now.

Step 1: Trade all players that can get them picks and rookie contracts back.
Step 2: Westbrook improves value running a team of scrubs into the playoffs
Step 3: Trade Westbrook in 2021 offseason for rookie contracts.
Step 4: Rebuild before 2024 and be good so you aren't losing great picks in 2024 and 2026 to OKC.

This should be their plan.

Move the team to Seattle.

It's actually a good year to tank because there's roughly 9 teams in the west that are playoff "locks" and the teams that will miss the playoffs mostly aren't that bad

I’d hate to be them. Even their Eric Gordon contract is awful.

Russ and what they get with the trade of Harden to nets or Philly will still make the playoffs for sure.

And is more easy sell Russ with a 2 year deal than the 3 year now and with his last games injured in playoffs.

It's called a rebuild, it's really not that complex.

Looks like Tillman will be putting the Rockets on the shelf for investments. Donald Sterling style.

At least some D-League folks will get experience in the NBA.

They're rebuilding and the painting is on the wall.

They will cave and send Harden to the Nets for LeVert, Dinwiddie, Allen and (5) FRP's

They will cave and probably send Westbrook to NYK for only expirings (Portis, Gibson, Payton, Ellington)

Miami has shown interest in Tucker and could swap Olynk for him.

They could turn a team that had zero future with zero and outstanding picks to the following...

Spencer Dinwiddie/Elfrid Payton
Caris LeVert/Wayne Ellington
Eric Gordon/Daniel House
Bobby Portis/Taj Gibson
Jarrett Allen/Olynk

+ whatever they can get for Dinwiddie at the deadline if they dont look to resign him.

The point will be to suck and them getting their pick that I believe is protected 1-4 or something like that.

They went all-in last season, didn't get anywhere near the title, have no opportunities to improve, might as well have a fire sale and tank.

When your star players want out and your GM gone what can you do other than to rebuild?

They will probably keep harden for as long as possible since he’s got two years under contract still. The ownership sucks a ton and their former gm left citing family reasons but we all know that was fake. Their contracts suck, they traded for WB and traded their center away to appease his play style. It’s all bad

what? Covington going from underrated to overrated (which is also happening slowly with Thybulle) now, 2 picks is perhaps too much value for him at the moment.
