Gordon Hayward Appreciation Thread

Post#1 » by CeltsFlow » Sat Nov 21, 2020 7:52 pm

End of an era that never truly began, alas, but he certainly had his moments. Probably will look back at this as a "what could've been" signing years down the road.

Thanks for being here, Gordo, good on you for getting paid I guess. :dontknow:

RIP to his prime, playing for his college coach. White LeBron is no more. One alley-oop changed the next four seasons for the Celtics.

Snakebit from the very first game. Hell, the first quarter of the first game.

Never connected with fans, never consistently played up to his abilities here, not a leader and in fact seemed pouty and whiny, got the sense he sort of resented the success of his teammates (especially the younger ones).

I didn't enjoy the Gordon Hayward experience at all so it's fitting it ended this way. I don't wish ill on anyone, but by signing in Charlotte he's already pretty much assured that his next 4 years are going to be about getting paid to toil in mediocrity. Later.

We're gonna miss him, the haters will learn soon enough that he was an important piece. Good bye Gordon, was a pleasure having you. The basketball gods didnt want to this to work. Hope he recovers and shows what he got in him.

I appreciated that he kept working so hard to come back from the endless injuries. And I know he had a really good regular season game against the Timberwolves.

That's about it. Peace out homie.
Gonna miss KP but he's no Georges Niang.

I agree with this. The ball moved much better when he was on the court, and the team was a joy to watch. I'm going to miss this.

Good luck to him, we may never hear his name again now that he's sailing off to an NBA hinterland.

best of luck gordon, i think he taught our kids a lot about how to move the ball. injuries weren't his fault but they happened, it is what it is. just didn't work out here.

I liked the dude and I actually wanted him to stay long term. That contract was way out of reach though.. Congrats to him for getting one last big check.

I'd wish him well but he is going to Charlotte so I'm not sure how that's even possible. lol

I do appreciate him trying to play on such a serious injury to try and help us against Miami. That was the realest **** he did while he was here. Maybe the only thing worth noting about his time in green. Just a really unfortunate three year period both ways.
WHAT THEY GON’ SAY NOW? ‎ THANK YOU TRUTH!

Good luck Gordon, you were.... here (I think). What could have been without some horrible injury luck.

Sad we may remember his wife more than we will any of his game winning Celtic plays. He really tried though, and gave all the effort he could muster. Can't be too upset for him personally, as he and his family are set for life. Good luck Gordon, we barely knew you.

On a side note: what the hell is this guy upset at? We didn't give him anything less than opportunities, despite him being distant to the organization and all of his teammates when he got back.

Also, I've really disliked his wife for a while now.

I’ll remember driving back from a Florida vacation the weekend of free agency making my wife listen to 16 straight hours of FA news on satellite radio trying to find out what he was gonna do. I’ll also remember the huge smile on my kids face when he got his Hayward jersey, then went and got his haircut like him. I have no issue with him taking the cash and running. We all would do the same. Good luck Gordon, wish it would have worked out better in Boston.

The only good day of his career in boston was the day he signed. The rest was trash.

Why does this thread even exist? All he did was ruin the cap space for three seasons then give the middle finger on the way out.

Pretty incredible that he did absolutely nothing of substance for 3 years and still managed to land 120 sheets. Bye G. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out
