OT: RIP Dawn Wells, "Mary Ann" from Gilligans' Island

Post#1 » by HarthorneWingo » Sat Jan 2, 2021 11:41 am

Dawn Wells who played "Mary Ann" on Gilligan's Island passed away at the age of 82 due to COVID. She was the quintessential girl next door in comedy sitcoms back then along with Betty Jo, Bobby Jo, and Betty Jo from Petticoat Junction and Marilyn from The Munsters. Those sitcoms back in the 60s - Green Acres, The Beverly Hillbillies, Get Smart, F-Troop, just to name a few, were so much fun to watch.

RIP Mary Ann. What a sweetheart!

RIP, I loved the show. That only leaves Tina Louise from Gilligan's Island.

Rip.

Sorry, but I gotta go there. The age old question. Ginger or Mary Ann?

When I was a kid it was definitely Ginger, but as I matured I realized what a hussy Ginger was ( ). I realized that Mary Ann was the type of girl you marry, while Ginger was :eyebrows: ..........you know .

I was going to go there in my OP but decided not to in order to see who would.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

Here’s the group of TV stars in no particular order:

Ginger
Mary Ann
Jeannie (I Dream of Jeannie)
Hannibal Jane (F-Troop)
Betty Jo, Betty Jo, and Bobbie Jo (Petticoat Junction)
Ellie Mae
Samantha (Bewitched)
Marilyn (Munsters)
Agent 99 (Get Smart)

Who did I leave out?

I Dream of Jeannie was basically soft core domination fantasy. Do my bidding and call me master.

Yeah, Mrs. Laura Petrie was a hottie indeed. I wasn’t that hot after Morticia.

The Sixties had the coolest shows and movies.

Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Oddly, the network decided it was more risque to show her belly button than her cleavage so they designed Jeannie's outfit to ride higher on her stomach

The Avengers is still one of the coolest shows of all-time. I have the complete series on a hard drive. There has never been a series with a better soundtrack. The musical accompaniment achieved the heights of groovy grandeur. Diana Rigg was an absolute goddess. Yum
