AG to Boston / Oladipo to Orlando

Post#1 » by NYG » Thu Mar 25, 2021 2:45 am

Houston Rockets get:
Romeo Langford
Tristan Thompson

-Gives: Victor Oladipo

Why: At this point, financial savings, a savvy vet and a young prospect is about as good an offer as you're getting for Oladipo.

=====
Orlando Magic get:
Victor Oladipo
Aaron Nesmith
Top 20 Protected 2021 Boston Celtics First Round Draft Pick (Top 20 Protected 2022 then becomes two seconds if not conveyed)

-Gives: Evan Fournier and Aaron Gordon

Why: The Magic save some money, add a recent first round pick and potentially a second one to rebuild around.

======
Boston Celtics get:
Aaron Gordon
Evan Fournier

-Gives Tristan Thompson, Aaron Nesmith, Romeo Langford and Conditional 2021 Celtics 1st

Why: The Celtics add two solid pieces to their roster without losing anything significant on the court from this season.

Rockets aren't taking on future money in a deal like this

Looks good for Celtics. BOS wants to add both Gordon + Fournier

Not at that price.

I think. We'll have a clearer idea soon.

C’s won’t give Langford + Nesmith. It would be one or the other and either an additional pick and/or a lesser prospect like Grant Williams/Carsen Edwards.

Langford doesn't have enough value to offset Tristan Thompson. If this deal came with a 1st, maybe. As is, no way.

Ummmm, no? Dipo is expiring, Thompson has $9 million next year. If Thompson looked like he had anything left, then maybe he'd have value as an expiring, but they way he's looked? At most he's a throw in for a bigger trade. Dipo doesn't have superstar value, but he's got more than a meh level prospect and $9 million in absolute deadweight.

Thompson is not dead weight. He literally just turned 30 so still has at least 2 more good years left. He's got good size, he's a good who will do the dirty work, set screens, is the team's best rebounder and one of the team's best defenders and even chips in with some good moves around the basket for scores. He's been Boston's starting center for most of the year and was a kep player on a championship winning team.

Thompsun is owed 14 mill and dipo is owed 12, it is two mill less.

Ok, I'm guessing you're trying to confuse the math by adding the rest if this season + next season with the money owed. Allow me to make this easier, how much money is Oladipo guaranteed next year? And same for Thompson? I'd rather let Oladipo walk for nothing, then take Thompson's deadweight next season for no reason. Langford is not reason enough to do this trade. Williams? Maybe. A 1st? Definitely. Langford + another young guy? Depends on the other guy. As presented, this is terrible. Thompson on that money NEXT year is terrible. Langford doesn't compensate for that.
