Draft Picks as a result of Trades

Post#1 » by orthoman » Fri Mar 26, 2021 10:34 am

I'm somewhat confused over the number of Draft Picks Orlando has acquired as a result of the trades.

How many FRP's did we pick up this year?

Say we lose most of the remaining games and land a top 3 pick as a result of our losing record, alone.

From the trades, do we land another top 5 (or top 10) pick?

This year we have our first and second round pick and Chicago top 4 protected first round pick. Dont know about Boston second.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

I didn't know about all protections, if the above is correct, props to WeHam on getting so lightly protected picks.

If it lands inside top 4, is the pick lost? I dont see details past the original year of each.

It is intersting that is every other year that the Magic has two FRPs. That will generate a nice pattern of players to solidify the bench.

Many of those SRPs look to get burned, as there are to many first-round players.

If weltman is still here those SRP’s are gonna get traded for cash because the draft flattened out.

Not changing this sig until Magic win a championship. Started 6/26/2015.

I am almost certain the pick is not lost, it just rolls over to the next draft just with less protection or no protection at all. Isn't that typically the case?

That's what they were posting on the Bulls board. If it falls in the bottom 4, the next season it'll be unprotected. That would push back the 2023 pick a year tho, because they can't give up two picks in a row.

After the 2023 draft, Orlando could have five new players selected in the first round. Add that to Fultz, Isaac, Anthony, Okeke, Carter, Hampton, and the two FRPs this year, that is already 13 players. This years SRP is a probable rotation player that will stick = 14 players.

It is VERY hard to see what value Orlando hope for in its SRPs. I guess the Magic draft for Lakeland and develop real projects there. Maybe one hits.

At least Orlando does not have 17 SRPs, like the Thunder does.

not typically the case. sometimes they get lighter and lighter protections until the pick is convey. another common scenario is if not convey, the pick becomes two 2nd round picks (highly highly HIGHLY unlikely here). rollover scenarios are always negotiated and hashed out. Take our Den pick for example, that has top-5 protections for 3 years then unprotected.

the full chi pick details just haven't been released yet.

I hope not we don’t continue selling our 2nd round picks.

We might be entering a realm were teams can draft G-leagures so that they cannot be signed by another team.

This years 2nd rounder they will definitely use since it’ll be early 2nd.

Orlando will need a third-string Center. There is literally no cheaper way to get one than a second-round rookie contract.

Charles Bassey if he slides must be the guy. But I also like Drew Timme and Kofi Cockburn. None of those three are one-N-doners, and thus all three should reasonable be expected to contribute deep-bench minutes for the Magic.

I really want a Magician that looks like this!

I need to look these guys up, I haven't been as into personel as in recent years.

All I know is I hope we draft shooters. With both firsts.

This is a comfortable position we are in. Like the chains of mediocrity are broken. I hope we can evaluate and draft correctly.
