Wizards SB NationWashington aims to avenge Monday’s loss
The Wizards face Atlanta for the second time in three days
The Washington Wizards (32-37) have three regular-season games remaining, with their final road matchup coming versus the Atlanta Hawks (38-31). Wednesday’s will be the Wizards’ third meeting with the Hawks on the season; Atlanta has won both meetings — 116-100 on January 29 and 125-124 on Monday.
In their first meeting against the Hawks, Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook scored 26 points apiece, but the team underperformed, hitting 31 of 85 shots (36.5-percent) and 7 of 28 threes (25-percent). Trae Young led the scoring with a team- and game-high 41 points.
On Monday, Young again led all scorers with 36 points, but the night belonged to Westbrook, who passed the legendary Oscar Robertson for first on the all-time triple-double list with 182. Westbrook logged 28 points, 13, rebounds and 21 assists to break what many thought was an unbreakable record. With Bradley Beal on the shelf with a hamstring injury, Rui Hachimura put up 20 points, Robin Lopez had 18, Ish Smith added 15 and Davis Bertans logged 15. The team was an even 50-percent from behind the arc and shot 51-percent from the field.

The team is simply easing him back into a basketball routine.

Re: Washington vs Atlanta Part 3: Revenge of the Fallen
Gonna need another big game from Con Jollins and Capela tonite. I suspect WAS will be 'on 11' after the loss. Team didn't respond well to IND coming out with maximum effort so tonite will be a good barometer in that regard.
Although WAS has ruled Beal out, I wouldn't be surprised if we see a game-time decision whereby he plays. This is a big game.

Baby steps for Hunter, it's a great sign he's playing rn. The most important thing he's fully healthy during the week before the playoffs where I'd think Nate will have some intense practices gearing up for the 1st round.

If Hunter is fine and we aren't playing him back to backs then why not play him tonight in the much tougher game as opposed to tomorrow's cake walk vs Orlando?

Because the preference is to give him 2 games off between games. He played 13 minutes in our last game. The idea is to get him ready and keep him healthy for the playoffs.

Trae is shooting badly.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

More field goal attempts for the team overall would be nice. Trae is shooting us into the ground.

For sure! Trae driving inside really helped us. He was getting some buckets. It's nice to clinch a playoff spot but I want the division!jayu70 wrote:Playoff Bound! Great comeback win with the 4th quarter magic.

Milwaukee and Detroit left is a back to back for Miami to end the regular season.
We host the Magic tomorrow and go to Houston the 16th.

I think the Houston game is a home game for the Hawks.

Re: Washington vs Atlanta Part 3: Revenge of the Fallen
How about Bozoman last night coming into the game and grabbing the ball, dribbling up court and immediately hoisting a 3 off the dribble that bricked of course.
Why is that allowed? Why is he not immediately yanked from the game for that? Are you not allowed to actually coach NBA players? Nate said in an interview about balancing egos and playing time that "it's their job to please me, not the other way around." He needs to practice what he preaches and start yanking guys who put themselves before the team.
When I played ball a million years ago I had a crew that used to run every gym and playground we played at. I played PG and our best player was a PG who played at TCU. We put him at 2G. Our other guys were guys who were happy to set screens, defend, rebound and knock down catch and shoot open shots. They NEVER shot when they weren't open, never forced anything, and never complained when I would give the ball to our #1 guy 4 out of every 5 possessions. They were just happy to win and hold the court.
Why can't that apply to NBA players? If your name is Lou Williams and you are playing PG and you are out there with Gallo, Huerter, Snell and Bogi you are literally the worst 3 point shooter on the floor and there is zero reason you should ever call your own number for 3's two possessions in a row. 90% of Lou's passes come after fails to find his own shot and most of those passes are to guys who aren't open.
