** The Official FIRE GLENN RIVERS Thread **

Post#1 » by Arsenal » Mon Jun 21, 2021 6:13 pm

Surprised this thread hasn't been made yet.

Glenn Rivers is a fraud and a disgrace. He hasn't been flamed anywhere near enough for his terrible coaching this series.

Not to mention his over-the-top CODDLING and BABYING of Ben Simmons ALL SEASON LONG. Then he finally throws Ben under the bus last night.

I thought Brett Brown was bad. Brett Brown is a better coach than Glenn.

Nate McMillan coached literal circles around Glenn.

Great job playing an offensively challenged lineup down the stretch of Game 5 and 7, when in both cases the team literally could not Fing score at all when it mattered. And Thybulle, ONCE AGAIN, makes an idiotic foul on a 3pt shooter, absolutely killing us at the end.

Time to start the countdown until this FRAUD gets fired...

Cosign but it's not gonna happen

1) Ownership is still paying Brett and Doc is in year 1 of his contract
2) Elton and Doc paired to bring Morey in, so i don't think this happen just because of misguided loyalty. Not at least for now

What was the context where he threw Ben under the bus? That he wouldn't confirm Ben is a point guard? I didn't get antagonistic vibes from him about Ben.

I'm pretty indifferent about Doc other than his all-bench lineups, especially in the playoffs. I think the issue that needs to be addressed is this insane roster construction before I can give Doc a fair grade.

100% difference in demeanor when discussing Ben last night versus the entire season. In context of how he's treated Ben all year, it was definitely throwing him under the bus.

Well, maybe Ben needs to be thrown under the bus because he was a former #1 pick, is our "PG", and is our "2nd star", but absolutely has zero clue how to shoot or even score. The coach's job is to also challenge players to be better. Ben's ineptitude on offense is certainly one of the main reasons we are out of the playoffs right now. It's way more his fault than Doc's, tbh.

Doc can't suit up and create on offense. We can't make moves in the offseason to get guys who create on offense because of decisions pre-dating Doc and Morey: ie max contracts for Tobias and Ben.

"Prevent defense" prevents winning as usual. Glenn coaches scared just like Ben plays scared.

No one is absolving Ben.

However, we gave Glenn a $40M contract, in large part to bring accountability and discipline to the team.

Which he abjectly FAILED in doing with regards to Ben Simmons. Instead Glenn coddled and babied Ben all year, even worse than Brett did, and THIS is the result.

Ben Simmons is worse than ever and almost singlehandedly torpedoed an excellent chance to win a title.

Can you post all of your lengthy research and proof that he coddled and babied Simmons any more than Brown? Stop blaming the coach so much when you explicitly state that Ben himself almost singlehandedly torpedoed an excellent chance to win a title. Doc isn't out there shooting 20 percent from the line or passing up wide open dunk attempts.

I don't love Rivers but I don't see him on the way out. If Ben shoots even 50% from the line the Sixers win the series.

You must be blind, deaf, and dumb to not see how your boy Glenn BABIED and CODDLED Ben all season long, until last night.

Doc came in not knowing Ben Simmons. He tried the nice guy approach to get the best out of him. I am sure he got a rundown of personalities and who is who when he started. He gave Ben every chance to be the player Doc thought he could be by playing nice. When the series ended he said "OK being nice does not work time for some tough love!" And he threw him under the bus.

It was time for "tough love" months ago. Unfortunately just like Brett Brown, the front office, and the ownership, Glenn Rivers was too much of a COWARD to confront Ben Simmons when it mattered.

Now it's too Fing late.

Yeah he's my boy. Relax, bro. Ben Simmons needs to work a lot on his basketball game. Stop blaming the coach for every one of his shortcomings as a player. He has not evolved his offensive game since he entered the league. Time to move on and replace him with a piece that actually fits. Harris rekindled his old self under Doc and new guys like Maxey and Curry were playing great.

Great job changing the subject "bro". Your boy was an abject failure coaching Ben Simmons. Just swallow it "bro".

Lol coaches are the least important piece on a title team. 90%+ of the times the players are the real issue. Popovic hasnt done anything in years, Stevens is not a coach anymore, Spoelstra swept in the first round, Carlisle fired. Every coach that was considered elite is doing pretty badly. People blamed Brown last year and they blame Rivers now but the truth is that coaching changes rarely make that big of a difference unless the players have tuned their coach out.

We signed Doc at the end of Sept/early Oct and the season started on Dec 22, what kind of reform were you expecting Doc to implement on an established All-Star on a max contract that would resonate into the season? The Human Elementâ„¢ needs to be under consideration here.
