DEANDRE AYTON is LEGIT
Ive liked him since the start of rookie season and am glad to see him w/ game winner.
he got some ill-advised flak for being drafted before doncic which aint his fault but who's in the conf. finals now?
ayton will be an allstar and was a good pick for suns.
and his jump shot, athleticism and lateral movement make him playable in any situation for defensive switching.

If the Suns win the title, is it the right pick? Honestly. It's hard to win a title. There's no telling what wouldve happened if they drafted Luka, but we know whats happening since drafting Ayton.

Really glad for Ayton. He has been overlooked because of how good Trae and Luka have been (and because of unfortunate incidents).
He'll also make a name for himself.

I mean, I can understand why they top Ayton. Ayton was a college level Embid type athletic talent who wasn’t a liability spacing the floor. Luka is a generational talent, but Ayton as a big kinda shows how unique bigs, the freaky athletic ones who can shot and. I’ve laterally/run the floor are still relevant. And the Suns already had their go to guy in Booker. Ayton seems to fit perfectly with Booker and the right pieces, we saw it in the bubble, and Paul is the piece that put them over the top
Honestly, Ayton as a player is much rarer than a player like Trae or Luka even. Honestly, he’s kinda like a lesser Durant in that he will fit in on every team, a high end defensive/rebounding/elite finisher with shooting touch. Which is what Ayton was touted to be. The Suns with Luka and Booker would always have defensive problems and I think that’s what went into the pick, Ayton was the better fit/talent choice

He's a 20/10 big with DPOY potential (might already be there), and they already have Book. Is this one of the very few situations where fit is better than BPA? Who knows if they win a title with Luka. We do know that they have a very strong chance at a title with Ayton

Re: DEANDRE AYTON is LEGIT
I know Ill get roasted for saying this, but I really do value someone with sky high defensive impact and the ability to put a huge stamp on the game without having to dominate the ball. If Ayton keeps this up, in a redraft Id take Ayton 2nd behind Luka. This is no shot at Trae, again just how much I love the ability for guys to dominate games without having to dominate the ball (the main reason I love Mobley in this draft so much).
His impact on today's game was truly ridiculous. I know its not the 40/10 kind of game, but with his rebounding, him barely needing ot touch the ball and his defensive impact, I think its just as impressive as a 40/10 kind of game.

I disagree a bit on Mobley comparison. Ayton came out as a 7 footer with a 250 lb frame, Mobley would get abused on the boards by and Embid/Ayton/Jokic in terms of strength and defensively IMO.
Another reason why I’m a bit higher on Wiseman than most. He’s got the same Ayton type frame, a 7 footer at 240 lbs coming out whose athletic as hell and can shoot, his IQ is low now, but Ayton figured out his role. I don’t see why Wiseman might not take the same trajectory and become that elite C who you don’t have to take off the floor in small ball matchups, with his ability to shoot, and potentially protect the rim and rebound simply due to his size and athletic ability

Re: DEANDRE AYTON is LEGIT
Ayton is good for the role he plays on the team ie. Utility type player that catches lobs on offense and is athletic enough to guard most bigs on defense.
If he has to shoulder to load for a team the way Embiid, Doncic, Steph or Jokic, he would start getting completely exposed. But as a third option, he thrives.

My only comparison between Ayton in the playoffs and Mobley is their ability to impact the game without having to dominate the ball. Very different players past that.
When it comes to Ayton and Wiseman, that is actually one of the main reasons I have never been a Wiseman fan. Wiseman has only been a big that has been a ball dominate low post big. The only comparison in my opinion between him and Ayton is their size. Athletically Ayton's functional athleticism is far superior to Wiseman's. Wiseman is a pretty stiff athlete and not quick. Also Ayton coming out of college, there was no big question marks about his awareness or IQ for the game. Ayton's big question mark was hit motor. All throughout high school and spurts at Zona, you could see Ayton just mail it in. But when he was checked in, the dude was legit on both ends.
Wiseman just doesnt have any natural feel for the game in my opinion. And trying to turn Wiseman into a low usage big that plays within an offense, is like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Just a waste of time in my opinion and those skills arent the reason Wiseman was ranked as high as he was. I also have no faith in him on the defensive end. Dont know too many bigs that have always been bad defensively with bad awareness that turned into good defenders.

Wiseman plays small and wants to play small.. like a poormans KG. Ayton has never been timid.. just disengaged. He plays like a healthy Greg Oden

it depends on what's more important. A championship, the first for your city, or watching a high usage chucker who plays no defense pad his stats in the regular season but can't win a playoff series?

The Suns drafted the player that fits best. Perhaps not the best player.....but sometimes this is the correct choice. They did well.

he's good, hella likable, his hands are ridiculous and his ball skills are developing...just wish he had better bbiq on defense.

they never left, they are just required to actually have some skill now to get real minutes and have an impact (not saying centers in previous eras didn't have skill before someone comes @ me)

Yeah, he was not this good in the regular season. He recently became a dad and that combined with the playoffs and just buying into what Paul and coach Williams have been saying just seems to have turned the light switch on. INcredible play these playoffs. Really unexpected.
