2021 RealGM Piston Poster Final Big Board

Post#1 » by ComboGuardCity » Sat Jul 24, 2021 5:38 pm

It’s been 4 years since I’ve been hyped about our draft positioning and prospects. Old threads can be found here:

2013: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1256614

2015: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1394679

2017: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1580639

Only thing I’ve learned is I probably wouldn’t make a great GM.

Might end up switching a few around before the draft

1. Cade

3. Green
4. Moody
5. Wagner
6. Barnes
7. Suggs
8. Cooper
9. Sengun
10. Springer
11. Jalen Johnson
12. Giddey
13. Kuminga
14. Garuba
15. Butler
16. Kispert
17. Isaiah Jackson

Dream Scenario: Cade at 1, trade to acquire Garuba or Butler. If no trade, Cade + Mcbride or Ayayi

Guys You Love: Cade, Mobley, Moody, Cooper, Ayayi, Mcbride, Butler, Garuba, I. Jackson, Petrusev, Christopher

1. Cade
2-30. Don’t care unless Weaver trades for another first rounder, which then it will depend on who’s available at that pick. And obviously there’s no way of knowing that right now.

And if Weaver traded away the three seconds for a future first and the Pistons only came away with Cade from this draft I’m okay with that too.

Top 10:
1. Cade - a little bit of Luka, a little bit of Booker. I think he’s a superstar when it’s all said and done.

2. Evan Mobley - All Star potential. I don’t think he’s Chris Bosh or AD, but I think he’s an injury free Jonathan Issac

3. Jalen Green - I think he has all star potential, but I don’t think he’ll be as good as Beal or Lavine. Elite leaper but Physical profile isn’t elite. I think his ceiling is pre injury Eric Gordon which is a star. However, I think he could also end up a Dennis Smith Jr. type disappointment.

4. Keon Johnson - Honestly think he might be as good a prospect as Green. I think he has all star potential with a great mental makeup. Any other draft I think he would be skyrocketing up boards. Could be an all star but I think he might be a Oladipo type.

5. Scottie Barnes -Thaddeus Young with playmaking. Above average starter.

6. Jalen Suggs - I don’t get the Chauncey comparisons. I think he’s a poor man’s Jrue which I think is an average starter.

7. Jonathan Kuminga - He doesn’t have a shot and unless he makes a 180 there he’s another average starter. I think he’s Aminu. However, if he does put it together he’s an all star so he’s still a high pick.

8. Jalen Johnson - yes he quit on Duke so the guy definitely has some concerns, but he reminds a lot of Tobias Harris. I’d take a shot on him and probably would even want him over Suggs and Kuminga.

9. James Bouknight - 6th man who maybe becomes a Clarkson type. However, he seems pretty 1 dimensional.

10. Kai Jones - Has tools to be a mismatch on offense. But super skinny and doesn’t have the feel yet. Maybe he’s Christian wood. Maybe he’s Anthony Randolph.

Dream Scenario:

1. Cade

2. Trade back in and nab Jalen Johnson

Guys You Love:
1. Cade
2. Jalen Johnson
3. Intrigued by Barnes

Guys You Don't Love:

1. Kuminga
2. Suggs
3. Davion

It’s really Cade and everyone else for me at this point. I don’t see the fit for Mobley with this team. I don’t see the potential all star talent there. I know that he has a bad work ethic but I don’t see franchise player on a championship team. Green can score but I’m scared that he is an Allan Houston 2.0. All scoring ability and no defense or play making ability. Suggs is my second favorite. I don’t think the fit works with Hayes unfortunately.

Top 10:

Think this is pretty universal but whatever:

1. DET - Cade
2. HOU - Green
3. CLE - Mobley
4. TOR - Suggs

Draft gets interesting now:

5. ORL - Kuminga (not Barnes)
6. OKC - Sengun
7. GSW - Moody
8. ORL - Barnes
9. SAC - Krispert
10. NOP - Keon Johnson

Dream Scenario: Take Cade, trade our 3 seconds and cash (or Okafor and/or Josh Jackson) to acquire 1 or 2 additional picks in the 2nd half of the first round.

Not sure who. That depends on the day and who our FO has on their own big board.

Guys You Love: apart from the top 4? Barnes! I've always been a advocate of defensive minded players and even though the game has changed a lot I think a defensive mentality shows a level of toughness.

I don't know enough about these kids to love or not love them as I usually only watch stuff on the 5 or so guys projected in our range. With us moving to #1 Barnes is the only dude outside the top 5 I really looked at.

this is a mock draft, big board is just how you would rank the prospects from best to worst

1.Cade obv

2.Mobley possible Chris Bosh
3.Suggs I feel like hes getting underrated hes a more valuablepiece then Green. Do everything pg with good size.
4.Green I like him but hes skinny and not long. His upside is somewhere around Booker,Beal, and Lavine. Thats a useful player but not a #1 on a title team player. We just seen Booker with a guy who finished top 5 in MVP this season thats about what u need with him.

5.Kuminga I like his upside more then Barnes
6.Barnes If he can learn to shoot hes going to be good

7.Sengun I think hes getting underrated because hes such a good post scorer he does more then that though
8.Bouknight bucket getter
9.Wagner great do everything role player
10.Giddey like his upside

Huh? Where are you hearing he has a bad work ethic?

I mean not really right?
Its a draft big board thread asking to list who you think will be the best 15 prospects in the draft overall. Its not a thread about who the Pistons should draft. Thats my understanding anyway

1. Cade
2. Suggs
3. Mobley
4. Barnes
5.Sengun
6. Keon Johnson
7. Bouknight
8. Jalen Johnson
9. Jalen Green
10. Kispert

I'm not really sure about Mobley's intensity and engagement with the game. Maybe I'm gunshy from Drummond's apathy toward basketball, but I am unsure of him significantly because of it. You might not agree with Suggs, but I can't help seeing Brandon Roy whenever I see Suggs, so I'm perhaps too optimistic. I like my Euro guys so Sengun goes higher. I was torn on Keon and Bouknight. I think Johnson will be the steal of the draft if you can get him on a "winning" team where he can contribute. I'm obviously very low on Green. I see more Justise Winslow than anything else from him. Might even switch Kispert and Green.

Dream scenario:
Trading into the 1st to catch one of the guys 5-10 on my board that are not top 10 on other boards as they slip into the 16-20 range.

1. Cade
2. Suggs
3. Green
4. Mobley
5. Mitchell
6. Barnes
7. K Johnson
8. Kuminga
9. Moody
10. Wagner

1. Dream scenario-Cade do the 3 way i mentioned in the potential trades and have mitchell fall to 10 and draft him.

Players i love: Cade/suggs/Mitchell

Players i dont: Kuminga/J Johnson/mobley(in a top 4 kind of way where i like cade suggs and green more)

Something about the way Suggs plays reminds me of Stuckey. I just don’t see star player.

I never understood the Mobley hype even at the beginning of the year. Best case scenario he turns into a post LeBron Miami Heat Bosh where admittedly Bosh was a near 7 footer that's a bucket but he wasn't going to carry the team every single night. Or some sort of hybrid of the above and some other star not superstar that I'm forgetting

Not to mention didn't he basically disappear in the tourny and or has low motor issues occasionally? After the Drummond fiasco, there's no way we should draft anyone with motor issues ever again

I'll be honest, I don't know enough to go 10 deep. I've read about most of the players, but if they aren't in the Big 10, I probably haven't seen them play. I'm just hoping Cade falls to 1. Whoever has picks negative infinity through zero, please don't pick him.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

1. Cade
2. Green
3. Mobley
4. Suggs
5. Kuminga
6. Barnes
7. Bouknight
8. Sengun
9. Giddey
10. Garuba

Pretty boring. I like the top favorites. I like the foreign players to round out the top ten.

Dream scenario: 1st round teams go for potential and we get guys in the second that can produce to round out our bench on cheap contracts. They produce during the season so we trade Plumlee and Sekou opening up more cap space next year.

Realistic Draft Board;

Cade
Springer
Franz
Zaiare Williams
Trey Murphy III
JT Thor
Bones Hyland
Kessler Edwards
Neemias Queta
Charles Bassey
Vrenz Bleijenbergh
Joe Wieskamp
EJ onu
Aaron Henry

Dream Scenario
1 Cade
24 Trade 2 2nds for a late first. Franz Wagner Falls! Franz Wagner - do it all wing
42 Neemias Queta falls!
Neemias talented monster big

Realistic Scenario
1 Cade
37 Kessler Edward's 3&D
42 Aaron Henry 3& D
52 EJ Onu - slim mobile shot blocker lob catcher to backup beef stew
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

We are now 10% into the Rookie Season of the 2021 class. Any outwardly surprises? Any disappointments?

Barnes and Mobley have exceeded my expectations, though I thought they were both going to be good players. Nobody has really disappointed me thus far. Shout out to all the Franz believers
