Jonathan Isaac and Markelle Fultz not fully ready for camp

Post#1 » by drsd » Sat Sep 25, 2021 9:51 am

The Orlando Magic are likely going to begin training camp without Jonathan Isaac and Markelle Fultz available as they continue to recover from injury.

OMD link: Orlando Magic won’t have Jonathan Isaac, Markelle Fultz in full for camp

I have not had any hope for Fultz playing this year, but I do expect Isaac to start on opening night. Maybe that is not a realistic thought as a fan.

We're obviously tanking this year, so we may as well take our time with them. I've always heard that you can come back from an ACL injury in one year, but it really takes two to get back fully.

Fultz torn acl in first week of 2021 so i didn't expect him to be back at opening night ( and he won't , he isn't even doing contact practices yet) , so he will probably play in 2022.

But Isaac is suprising one, he had acl tear in August of 2020 and he isn't ready to play 14 months later? Okeey. It's clear there was setback that Weltman won't say word about.

That's fine, we're making it Suggs team any way and they can see where they fit when healthy.

All this means is they're taking their time with them. It doesn't necessarily mean they had a setback.

I need answers on the Isaac injury and we'll never get them.

I’m just assuming the estimated recovery times we hear so much about can be a bit different for 7 footers.

A bit nuts that issac isn't ready go for opening night most likely.. I understand fultz his injury came 3 months after issac but man for issac not be ready for the being of this season is pretty disheartening since he has been out for nearly 13-14 months... I just dont understand how you can give a guy 4-80 mill with his injury history without him proving he can stay in the floor

I'm not worried... This is a development year anyway so there is no need to rush them back. Need to get healthy first. I'm assuming they'd both be available by late October/Early-Mid November.

They're probably afraid he'll get injured before the season even starts. They should probably bring him off the bench with limited minutes this season.... team will likely be bad anyway, might as well let him use the year to slowly rebuild his in-game conditioning and strength. Like Bamba last season, the goal for Isaac this season should be to stay healthy.

He also isn't vaccinated which I'm sure isn't helping (Isaac).

Not since Isaac tore his ACL last year have I been more disappointed in a Magic-related story smh. :nonono:

It's dumbfounding that Isaac, especially with his injury history, would choose to trust the science when it comes to a torn ACL, but not when it comes to a deadly pandemic. Or maybe he distrusts both and that's the setback.

My patience with Isaac is running on thin ice.

The more I watch him on the bench with repeated injuries paired with the more I learn about who he is … the closer I get to moving on from him.

So this boggles my mind. Look I believe in the vaccine but I am done trying to argue with people who don’t want it. It’s their choice. But for someone who is talented and whose big problem is availability to not try and take every measure to try and guarantee he will be available boggles my mind. I will have no patience for him missing games because of protocols. You can’t always control the injuries but this is something you can control
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

I’m mostly unconcerned. We just have to get him healthy and back on the floor. Anyone that has title aspirations would love to have a healthy JI. If/when he rebuilds his value with a little run of health, I’d look to flip him and wash my hands of the situation. It’s not that I want him gone, but it would just make too much sense to move him. What he is capable of providing at the defensive end is too valuable to waste on a team that isn’t getting into the playoffs anytime soon. If he breaks down again, we run the risk of getting nothing out of a valuable asset. He’s young enough that the receiving team can view him as a long-term asset. Wouldn’t GS be happy to give up Moody and Wiseman for a healthy JI?

Probably not if he can't play home games in SF.

It is frustrating tbh. He's my favorite player, he seems like a good person, I didn't care about him kneeling or standing because that's a free choice as is the vaccination and I've got friends/family/etc that haven't as much as I would like them to, like my mom who has lupus and it would be really bad if she got COVID.

I just don't think vaccinations and science has to be a political stance and/or fly in the face of religion. And I don't want him spreading false information about things or trying to "pray it away". That's when it gets iffy to me.
