Carmelo and LeBron numbers and placing on career scoring lists

Post#1 » by Coeur » Thu Oct 14, 2021 4:38 am

As a huge Carmelo fan I want to see him score

112 to pass Dan Issel to #11

1226 To pass Shaq into 10th

2108 past Moses to 9

2656 past 30K and Dr J at 30,026

Lebron

1561 to pass Karl malone at 2nd at 36,928

3,020 is what Lebrons really looking at to pass Kareem at 38,388

4,633 to hit 40K

Will Carmelo score 1226 more, LeBron atleast 3020 more? 2656 and 4633 more?

I think Lebron is the safer bet. Carmelo getting another 1226 points would mean he'll have to play at least another 1.5 to 2 seasons getting consistent rotation minutes.

900 this season- 326. More in 22-23?

LeBron get 3K over the next 2 or will that take the 23-24 season to pass Kareem and start toward 40K?

Carmelo passing Shaq into 10th and LeBron passing Kareem into 1st both seem like 2 year possibilities.

My honest gut says carmelo may only have 1 more good season. But he might be in a perfect place to do it. A dozen 20 plus games or even a handful of 30s might be possible if he's roided out and LeBron and Russ wants it for him.

LeBron will make it to #1 unless he suffers some catastrophic injury

Will he do it in 2 seasons or will he need into 3rd season from now? Any chance of 4 more years and 40K total? Or 4633 more in 3?

Lebron makes it to #1 easily.

Not sure Melo has enough minutes left in his career to pass Shaq.

It'll probably happen early in the 2024 season. I think he will get past 40k too, probably the next season.

Worth keeping an eye on assists, rebounds and steals too because LeBron also has the chance to ascend to rarified air in those categories.

Assists: LeBron is currently #8 with 9,696 and only 639 separate him from #3 Nash. Probably won't have enough time to get the 2,395 he would need to overtake #2 Kidd.

Rebounds: LeBron is currently #46 (right behind DeAndre Jordan) with 9,751. If he averaged 400 rebounds per season and played four more seasons, he'd finish #28 sandwiched between Baylor and Pau. If he played another couple of seasons on top he could break into the top-25. He only needs 754 to pass the top SF on the list, Dr. J (who is also higher than any guard).

Steals: LeBron is currently #14 with 2,063 and has a good shot of overtaking the top non-guard on the list, #7 Pippen w/2,307. Mo Cheeks at #6 is just three more assists higher, though #5 Chris Paul with 2,332 is unlikely to be overtaken since he's still adding to his total.

I'm guessing LeBron finishes #1 in points, top-30 in rebounds (highest non-PF/C), #3 in assists and #6 in steals. Not a bad career.

as number one lebron hater out there , beside carreer altering injury there is no way he declines so bad to do the 4633 in 4 years. I think 3 years is the safest bet. I mean top scorer gets about 2000 points per season, Harden at 2300 ish is an anomaly. If the seasons pan out normally he should add about 1600-1700 per season

I think it will depend on the way he approaches the season, either as scoring first mentality or a playmaker for the rest of the team. Also how many games will he play?

At his age a career ending injury is a risk each and every game. Lets hope not but it's a real risk.

Melo should pass Shaq at least. Doubt he does it this year but gets very close. I don't think he can pass Moses Malone. But I could see him playing just to get 30,000 points. Who knows. Crazy to think they have 3 players on their roster who might all end up with over 30,000 points.
