If it does not work (and Masai suggested it may be next year before we know), let's just hold on to what we have.

Especially when that C doesn't play defence. Towns brings nothing to this team.

I take back what I said. Even though Towns wouldn't have done anything to stop Mobleyl/Allen, we could have used his scoring.

Boston, Cleveland, Indiana, (Minnesota), Sacramento & Toronto are the only team that control all of their future picks. If one of them were willing to trade 4 firsts + 3 swaps for KAT Minnesota should consider it.

KAT for Dragic, Boucher, Flynn + 4 unprotected first round picks (2022, 2024, 2026, 2028) & 3 first round swaps (2023, 2025, 2027).

I'd take that over a package like Wiseman, Kuminga, Moody or something similar if I were Minnesota.

Raptors Lineup

Vanvleet - Banton
Anunoby - Trent Jr.
Barnes - Svi
Siakam - Achiuwa
KAT - Birch

How do teams "monitor" the situation? Do they like sneak a baby monitor into the Wolves lockerroom?

I prefer Siakam over Towns, and these days, I don't think we should build around traditional C, as you may not able to play him to close games.

Towns would cost too much in a trade. However, he's a definite target in FA two year's from now. All it'll cost us then is not renewing or moving Fred and Trent to make room.

Towns
Barnes
OG
Siakam

A year later use your picks and whatever signings you made to add one last talent.

If Towns becomes available, GSW will be all over him. They will offer all of their young prospects (Wiseman, Kuminga, Poole) to acquire him. He is the perfect compliment to their team, a Durant replacement.

The Raptors could have max space theoretically in 2023. Pretty sure KAT is a free agent in 2024. Intriguing concept nonetheless, even if the Raptors have never signed a max free agent. Not suggesting this is realistic, but Jokic is a free agent in 2023 as of right now.

Banton
Anunoby
Barnes
Siakam
Jokic

If you're going to dream about having an offensive 5 with no D might as well dream about having the best. Maybe he tests the market if Denver can't get deep enough.

Towns is the perfect example of a great fantasy pick who isn't a winning player.

You're forgetting that OKC has 19 1st rounders over the next 5 years, and almost as many 2nd rounders. They could trade 10 picks and not even blink an eye.

Fair enough, but they don't have control over their own pick until next summer so they couldn't offer 4 unprotected picks + 3 swaps until then. Obviously they can offer some of their other draft assets though.

Do we really want a player with this losing mentality?

Hes just the more offense vs defense level of AD.

I could see Minnesota going to tank for Banchero or hometown Chet Holmgren to pair with Edwards.

Like Giannis, Jokic and Doncic seem like players that will be with their teams until their mid-30's.

I've watched some Timberwolves games on league pass this year. They look bad and even though Towns is talented I don't think we should make a move for him unless they're confident that he won't be a liability on defence.
Yeah he could be nice as a go to guy in crunch time but even in that role he hasn't played on a winning team to develop that skillset fully. He really just needs to get into contract season mentality and max out his strength/conditioning program, focus on a few go to moves on offence, and put in a little more effort on d.

if we could get for pascal and picks u absoloty do it. KAT is extremly talented and his defence issue is more do to motivation, i think a change in scenery would help plus, his offense is very good. I know nurse could turn him around. his offense greatly improves us.

The problem for OKC is that their team is so bad right now that they could have trouble getting players to fit in around SGA and Towns. They would only have 2 seasons after this one to show success and convince Towns to stay and they likely won't do anything this season as the rest of the roster is incredibly young or just minimum contracts. In 2024 Towns can leave as UFA and due to the fact that they traded for him they can't even offer him the supermax that Giannis got, there would be much less difference between what OKC could offer and what other teams could bid (mostly it's just slightly higher yearly raises + a 5th year).

Point is, this is not the kind of trade that OKC is going to make, it's too risky. I mean this is a team that was willing to trade SGA for the #1 pick, it's a team that is not looking to win right now.

Masai and the Raptors want nothing to do with players who have low bball IQ and refuse to play defence.

Minnesota sucks because of Towns… pass.
Go Raps!!
