Obi's been a nice surprise this year besides the 3-point shooting but I still can't believe we passed on Haliburton.
Folks talking about how this FO nailed the draft but I can't give you that credit if (if) you messed up with your most important pick like that.
Hopefully Obi finds a role where he gets consistent minutes and shows what he can do.
As someone who was never a fan of the Obi pick, I'm not too mad about that
Until there's a star guy that develops out of that group, so long as Obi stays solid, it's not too bad. Not great, cause of the positional flexibility argument, but not as bad as the Frank/Knox picks.
I like what I've seen from Obi and I hope the franchise gives him the keys to the 4 spot over Randle down the line. If only to know what we have in Obi.
But as of right now, Obi doesn't project as a starter in the NBA imo, whereas Hali does, so I still think the pick was a blunder.
Obi can't be a starting 4 in this league if he's shooting below below 20% from 3. He can't be a starting 5 if he's not a more consistent defender, although he's shown some nice flashes. He needs to improve in either one of those areas.
But you're right that he at least looks like a legit rotation player in the NBA. And I'd love to see him be the roll man as the starting 4 for this team playing next to a 5 like Turner.
A PNR partnership of Rose-Obi, with Turner at the 5 and wing shooters would be more exciting to watch than this crap.
