Chuma Okeke to Chicago
Chicago trades: Matt Thomas, Marko Simonovic, 2022 POR 1st (1-14 protected thru 2028, otherwise 2nd)
Orlando trades: Chuma Okeke
With the emergence of Franz Wagner and Orlando going with WCJ/Bamba at the 4/5, Okeke has been marginalized in their rotation. He's a nice player and I think would be a good long-term piece alongside Patrick Williams, and with Williams down he can at least give Chicago another decent player at that position. Orlando recoups a first now that they have more promising players in their rotation.

Re: Chuma Okeke to Chicago
No way from ORL...perhaps Chuma plus DEN pick for Patrick Williams. ORL loves Chuma, he's versatile, plays at both ends, and getting better all of the time. It will take more than a late first to get a guy who has outplayed his late first draft position (which was only due to his college injury). Even as Franz Wagner and Isaac become the very likely long-term forwards on ORL, Chuma is a valued 6th or 7th man...Not saying I wouldn't consider a trade, but not this one.

Re: Chuma Okeke to Chicago
I'd have Chicago targeting a better win now player and less of a prospect if they're sending out a 1st.
Also feel like this is an overpay for Okeke, who is currently getting buried in the rotation of an outright bad team.

Ahh, hadn't known he was on an official minutes restriction. If he can work his way up in the rotation I could slightly change my tune.

Re: Chuma Okeke to Chicago
Players get passed up in the rotation for a variety of reasons, lees defender, shooter, all around player than the other guy. But when you say a guy is marginalized it's because they aren't looking for a way to get him on the floor. For that you don't give up a 1st round pick. Okeke still has the potential of a lottery pick but he doesn't seem to stand out at any aspect to think he shows up in Chicago and makes a difference. He sure doesn't have the stats to justify him starting over even Javonte Green at this point.
Simonovic and Thomas have played about 10 minutes all season, they're just contract numbers that ORL doesn't even want. The Bulls sending a 3rd FRP plus the lottery pick ORL got in Carter is insane.

Re: Chuma Okeke to Chicago
This premise kind of makes it sound like Brandon Clarke’s situation and I think he’d honestly be a way better target from a talent, value, and trade logic stand point.
Okeke is coming off of a hip injury which is where this may come from. He probably will get close to starters minutes off the bench when he’s ready though (the non-Wagner/Bamba minutes).

Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

I like Okeke. I'd trade filler and a protected 1st for him

he plays better at PF anways, so Franz shouldnt impact him. and coming off the bench as he recovers from injury is a good thing to keep his minutes monitored.

Re: Chuma Okeke to Chicago
No thanks, he might turn into an okay player but not for that first rounder. That Portland pick should only be traded for someone that we know will step into the rotation straight away and play at a good level, not a prospect.

Sounds like you are describing Chuma Okeke

Re: Chuma Okeke to Chicago
Looks like I missed the mark, I agree that if Okeke is going to get an increased role as he recovers in Orlando's lineup that they'd rather stick with him than get a late first. Clarke is probably the option that makes more sense for Chicago, in that case.

okeke is useless anyway not bc hes bad but orlando has a ton of good value bigs he will play 10 minutes at best.
franz is the future core and his natural is 3/4. although he will mainly play the 3, he will have to play back up 4 if he wants to improve. portland pick is more than enough considering where he was drafted and he has 2.5 yrs left. hes a low risk gamble you bid for cheap.
Doncic will be goat. Lauri will be his sidekick.

Why would you trade someone who has more than proven his late lottery value (where he was picked for a -at best- late lottery pick)...there's no money issue or skill issue, that would be dumping him. I said I would consider trading him due to ORL roster, but not for a weak pick...I also wouldn't expect anyone to give a much higher pick - it is what it is- his value to ORL is more than his draft replacement value...Additionally, Patrick Williams would also be backing up Isaac at PF and/or Franz at SF.

Franz is good, but he's not "OK let's get rid of all of our depth guys" good. In fact, Okeke could end up being the better player in the long run. We just don't know. It's too early to tell and that package in return does absolutely nothing.

I would do that trade. A mid first for Chuma especially with Isaac locked up and drafting Franz.

Re: Chuma Okeke to Chicago
Bulls pass.
Bulls will get a vet bigman at deadline without having to give up any assets. If one isn't available, one maybe waived. If one isn't waived, we'll for sure get one in a saturated bigman free agency coming up in 2022.

The Bulls don't need any more 6'6" PFs, especially ones that shoot as poorly as Okeke.
