Jokic vs Giannis

Post#1 » by harlem_ball » Tue Nov 9, 2021 5:12 am

Along with Durant these are the top 3 players in the league and it's a damn shame Murray is injured because I would love to see a Giannis vs Jokic finals. These two players going after each other in the paint would be insane.

I think it’s a great debate. And in my opinion it’s a debate between the two best players in the league currently.

I think the Giannis argument is, his two way impact when it’s at its top, is 2nd to none. What he did in the finals last year on both ends was truly something to watch.

Then with Jokic, I think he’s the best floor raiser in the game right now. I honestly think you can hand him any roster in the NBA and they will be a playoff team and competing for home court in the 1st round. His impact offensively is 2nd to none right now. He can dominate a defense either with his elite efficient scoring, or with his elite ability to run an offense.

So I think the debate is, does Jokic’s truly dominate offensive impact equal Giannis two way impact. I honestly think it’s a great debate. And in my opinion a pretty fresh debate. Which is needed in the NBA world.

Given how dominant Jokic is offensively and how his supposed defensive struggles are untrue, I'm leaning in his direction.

Jokic. Offensively, it's not really a contest. And defensively, it's not as one-sided as one might think. Nuggets are 2nd in DRTG this year and Jokic has gotten way better on that end.

Imo the top 4 players in the league:

KD - giannis- joker- curry

in no order then a gap.

Between Giannis and joker I'm giving it slightly to Giannis just bc of what he accomplished in the finals last year. But this season is still young.

Curry is better than all of these guys.

After that I am taking KD, Giannis, and Joker. In that order.

Last season Bucks were 6th in offensive rating at 117.2, Denver 7th at 117.1. This season Milwaukee is 20th at 105.5 (missing half their top 8) and Denver is 24th at 104.1 (without Murray).

Over the entire season last these are the per 36s:

Points 27.5 vs 30.7
Assists 8.7 vs 6.4
Offensive rebounds 3.0 vs 1.7

So far this season its:

Points 28.8 vs 30.6
Assists 6.5 vs 6.7
Offensive rebounds 3.1 vs 2.2

I'm not sure how you think those two are so far apart on offense they are "not even a contest".

What? Lol. Are you forgetting about one Stephen Wadell Curry. He's got guys no one ever heard of looking like hall of hamers. Nobody else including Jokic can do that.

Was hoping for a retaliation comp against dirty players. Jokic made Giannis proud last night no doubt.

It really isn’t and it’s not a knock on Giannis because Jokic will likely go down as one of the best offensive Bigs of all time. Giannis isn’t the floor spacer that Jokic is, nor can he pass like him or score like him. On offense, Jokic practically has no weaknesses.

And here I was thinking it was one of those “who did it better” comps with Jokic vs Morris and Giannis vs Dunleavy

Giannis has so many games this year with him making the right play and his teammates clanking wide open shots. Can’t wait for their roster to get all back and in gm shape! With Giannis defense added no one is better.

This is pure racism . What big game has Jokic won ?

Strike. Do not derail threads with antagonistic accusations of racism. We are here to talk about basketball. Both of these players are MVPs and believe it or not people can prefer one or the other without race being involved at all. You have already been warned for these types of comments. -b

Giannis won a title with one borderline all-star. Wake me up when Jokic gets 50 in a Finals game while sealing off the paint.
