Coby White to Denver, Kyle Anderson to Chicago (w/HOU)

Post#1 » by babyjax13 » Tue Nov 9, 2021 6:41 am

Denver trades: 2027 DEN 1st (1-14 otherwise 2nd), Zeke Nnaji, Vlatko Cancar
Denver receives: Coby White
Denver gets a scoring guard who can play alongside Murray or back him up, and importantly someone who can score 16-20ppg next to Jokic while they are dealing with injuries (White is about to return to live practice after surgery). Neither Nnaji or Cancar are major parts of Denver's rotation, but White would be.

Houston trades: Danuel House
Houston receives: Zeke Nnaji
Houston swaps House for a young F/C prospect.

Chicago trades: Coby White, Derrick Jones Jr.
Chicago receives: Kyle Anderson, Danuel House
Chicago gets a starting caliber combo-forward in Anderson, and a competent backup in House.

Memphis trades: Kyle Anderson
Memphis receives: Vlatko Cancar, Derrick Jones Jr., 2027 DEN 1st (1-14 protected, otherwise 2nd)
Memphis moves Anderson for a first, opens up playing time for Clarke.

Hate it for the Bulls. DJJ is playing a real role for the team and his size/.1% tier athleticism are far more intriguing than anything coming back. And that's not even factoring Coby into this equation. Cut the Bulls out or send useful, 1st round draft assets to the Bulls. Otherwise this really makes no sense.

This is incredible for the Bulls who get 2 good rotation forwards for a luxury and their fans are constantly talking about the need to dump salary to pay LaVine next year anyway.

I don't believe White is an upgrade over Morris so I don't see Denver paying a first though so it falls apart for me there.

Not for the Bulls. They trade DJJ for another combo forward, maybe who has put up better numbers but Anderson is still the 3-4 combo and right now they need a genuine PF, not a slight combo upgrade.

People seem to categorize Coby White as a project or a potential 6th man, but they seem eager to ignore that out of his expected role last year he started at PG and averaged 15 points and 4.6 APG so he's not a development player. And while the Bulls finally have a real PG to start and Caruso to come off the bench if White backs up Lavine that means Zach spends more of his minutes with the starters and less helping the second unit. White is also going to take the minutes from 2nd round pick Ayo Dosunmo and unless you're short on BB IQ, a 3rd year combo guard who started one of his first 2 years is a better player than any second round pick passed over 40 times.

White is big enough to play shooting guard, I don't think there is any issue there.

Anderson is a genuine power forward. Yes, White is going to be better than Dosunmu, but what do the Bulls need most? I think it's forward depth, not guard depth where they are okay even without White.

I think for Memphis I am passing here. Rather hold on to Anderson for a playoff run and possible resign him over a one time shot at a 1st in 6 years.

Not really. Just that we don't want to take extra salary back for next year. Two late first round pick cap holds and a 30% max for Zach puts the Bulls right at the tax line, leaving the mmle and bae to add free agents or re-sign DJJ and TBJ.

Anyway, DJJ has been playing great for the Bulls, Coby White would've been traded at the deadline if the front office didn't see anything in him, and Anderson and House don't really move the needle. :dontknow:

This.

We can sign Kyle Anderson outright this summer.

Horrible the Bulls. Anderson doesn’t fit us in the slightest. Unathletic, slow and mediocre shooter. Would rather DJJ over him easily.

I wouldn't hate this but Denver likes to keep their first round picks and develop their own bench players. Moving a first (as well as Nnaji) for a backup guard who isn't better than Facu or Morris doesn't make a lot of sense.
