Klay Thompson Looks Good In Workouts

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Nov 10, 2021 2:07 pm

Klay Thompson hasn't played in a basketball game since the 2019 NBA Finals. He's making progress towards a return, and early reports are that Thompson looks good.

Brian Windhorst of ESPN said "The whispers around the league right now about Klay Thompson ... they say he looks good. ... There is a real confidence in there that, especially by the end of the season, that Klay is going to be BACK back."

When Thompson last played, he was in the midst of a five-year fun of averaging at least 20 points per game. Thompson has also never shot under 40% on three-pointers in a season.

The Warriors currently boast the NBA's best record at 9-1 despite playing the entirety of the season without Thompson and 2020 second overall pick James Wiseman. Thompson is expected to return to play around the holidays, while Wiseman should return sometime in November.

The problem isn't eliminating the jump into the defensive player to get a call. The problem is that what was a regular foul is not being called. Not policing those calls just creates incentive to foul rather than play good defense.

Dame won't be going to PHI. So many teams have so much more to offer!

Why does it need to be a team that can win? In what possible universe would trading for Simmons make sense as the beginning of a rebuild? You think POR wants to be saddled with that contact for the next 4 years. You think POR is going to settle with trading "Logo Lillard" for "Restricted Area Simmons"? They would want picks, not a tank commander. I believe PHI only has two 1sts they could trade and Simmons + two 1sts is not enough for Lillard. Simmons is on a negative contract and the picks would likely be 26-30.

POR would not be looking for attractive assets other than picks and pick swaps. Most teams have them. They would probably be willing to take back bad money as well. They need to get to the salary floor. But they need to get off that bad money before rookie extensions, so Simmons is out. I don't need to go into what teams would call and what they would offer because most teams (That aren't tanking) would call and offer all the picks and filler.

The most obvious trade would be to SAC for Fox and picks. SAC owns all their 1sts and are about an hour from Lillard's beloved Oakland. POR could flip Fox at a later date for more picks.

MIN owns all their picks as well. Dame for Russell and all the picks. I'm sure Russell can drive tank!

Not sure how this thread became about Lillard. Anyhow, Klay was the Warriors’ iron man before the injuries. I’m glad the Warriors aren’t rushing him back. Fingers crossed for a full recovery.

Klay was always a little underrated by most. Ironically, it took injury for some fans to understand how much value he added to the team.

I spoke to him briefly after warm ups at the last game he played. I said good luck, but not too much, as he was playing my team. He chuckled and I think he even signed a stub for us. I feel bad for him, hope he comes back stronger than ever. He's sure put the work in.
