What would you trade for D’Angelo Russell?

Post#1 » by Mamba4Goat » Thu Nov 11, 2021 6:34 pm

I know he and KAT are pals but, he hurts the Timberwolves more than he helps and with how streaky him and Ant are it is incredibly tough to win games.

So for the purpose of hypotheticals, what do you guys think is a fair offer for Russell? Minnesota could use two way players, an actual PF, floor spacers, a primary playmaker, rebounders, and talent (this is partially me lashing out at the Wolves for making me watch so many tough games).
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

I'll just throw out Westbrook since that has been proposed on the board with mixed, but mostly negative reaction. I could see Houston being interested, maybe Russell + Layman + Okogie for Wall + some (one?) of the likely late firsts Houston has picked up (MIL/BRK).

Nothing from Utah. I'm actually not as down on DAR as some people are, but he's not starting over either Mitchell or Conley, and with his salary we'd have to trade a bunch of players we like to get him.

So no offer here. Would the Clippers be interested in him as a souped-up Reggie Jackson?

How much better is Russell than Reggie Jackson? Going by Bang for the Buck, I would rather have Jackson.

Jackson.....$10,384,500......$11,215,260
Russell......$30,013,500......$31,377,750

Towns + Russell

FOR

Brown + Horford

Send both buddies packing out of MN.

Now, if Wolves keep Brown or flip him for youth/picks, TBD.

One of the fake Russell trades that’s popped into my head was Horford*Schroeder for Russell. We’re close-ish!

Since he hurts his teams more than he helps, I would trade absolutely nothing for him, if I was an NBA GM.

Figure out how many picks you need to give up to get Simmons, thats the only answer.

Call every team in the league offering picks and any player outside of Towns/Edwards to help facilitate a deal Philly likes.

Not gonna to happen. If Russell had been offered for Simmons. That trade would have been done over the summer.

Anyways. Minnesota needs to worry more about Anthony Edwards. The way he’s starting off the season. He will end up like Wiggins 2.0.

Minnesota is a mess. A gobert for towns trade may be the best fit to help improve the team. Have Utah throw in a couple of lightly protected first. That deal is more likely to get done.

I'm not gonna act like I watch the TWolves but on paper one would think they'd be a pretty fun young team. I thought they would compliment each other

Are you saying this backwards? I think Russell offers were made by Rosas, with all those rumors about him being highly interested in Simmons. I think it was telling that he said, “Edwards and Towns are off the table,” but refused to put Russell in that class, only saying, “we’d PREFER to add Simmons to Towns Russell and Ant.”

I’m low on both Russell and Simmons, and Russell has been worse than expected so far this season.

Edwards put up an efficient 48 points last night. But I did laugh because calling Edwards “Wiggins 2.0” is like the worst insult you could say to a MIN fan.

Gobert is better than Towns mate. Utah is not going to pay to downgrade.

That’s one game putting up points in a game they lost going away. They were really never close to winning. Usual regular season game where teams are losing by 10-15 points most of the game. Make runs to get it “close” than lose by 15.

Anyways. When you jack up 22/23 shots a game. You are bound to have a big game once in a while. The dude is averaging 25/26 points on 22/23 shots a game. And still not shooting well.

If there’s any number of picks+swaps that could turn Dlo into Simmons, Rosas needed to be on the phone yesterday

He is 20. Edwards isnt the issue and he may be young enough to not be ruined by the DLo and Towns duo of losing basketball.

MIN needs to implode the whole team and build around Edwards. That might work. What they are doing now simply doesnt work.

As for DLo, I think they should focus on moving him for something and see if that helps. If not, move Towns as well.

Towns + Russell for Brown + Horford would be interesting. Not sure if Edwards + Brown is very complimentary but its worth a shot. Love a vet like Al in Minny. Always thought that young squad needed more vets.

I'd seriously consider a straight swap just because of timelines. Mitchell and Towns would be a deadly combination for the next decade. We'd have to get more perimeter defense to make it work. That said, yes, Gobert is better right now.

Horford/brown would be a better fit for Minnesota as well.

But while wolves fans are excited for Edwards’s. I’m not seeing much in terms of winning basketball. Taking way too many shots. Wiggins at age 20 was taking 15/16 shots a game very similar effiency scoring 20. Wiggins age 21 taking 19 shots a game and average 22/23 a game.

It’s a faster pace nba. So someone like Edwards taking 22/23 shots and scoring almost 26 points is not good especially when the team is losing games.

Towns is not gonna to stop scoring and play harder defense. Dlo isn’t either.

But Minnesota has its own picks for this upcoming draft. They may just decide it’s player development by the all star break and let Edwards keep playing the way his playing and not care about wins.

And trade towns in off season

Dont think anyone would want dlo unless fighting for chet/pablo.

Maybe dlo to houston for wall as the basis.

Brown would be someone the Warriors would be willing to throw everything on the table for (IMO).
