25/26 College Basketball

For non-Wisconsin and Marquette games. Kicking off tonight with 4 Villanova @ 2 UCLA...or at least, with whatever I manage to stay awake for.

Feel like UCLA is chaotic neutral. They could win the championship - really should be a matured and improved team over last season - but I still wouldn't be surprised if they kind of stuttered through the season and get upset in the first weekend.

I'm not trying to take away from MU (honestly), but also not convinced that beating Illinois will end up meaning anything. I like Kofi, but think Ayo made that team tick and that they're overranked.

Purposefully not in the MU thread as I'm not trying to troll y'all :D

EDIT: And I've now seen Kofi didn't even play.

I don't know if it's because people don't know much about Illinois, but it's strange how people hyping the MU win don't mention their best player being out.

It was nice of the Big 10 to make the Big East feel good about themselves early on by sitting their best players in each respective game*

* - Joking as I couldn't tell you but MU might be better than UW this year and the win is still nice even with Kofi out.

Zaga is murdering UCLA, making them look like a fraud. And Chet Holmgren looks like anything but - just blocked a shot, ran the court, crossed a defender over behind his back, and drove the lane for a slam.

Chet is so skilled, he could play college basketball even if he was a foot shorter. Zags might be even better than last season - after losing 2 to the first half of the first round of the NBA draft plus Ayayi. https://www.upi.com/Sports_News/2021/11/24/Gonzaga-blows-out-UCLA-college-basketball/7151637754531/

I enjoyed watching Chet last night. My wife, however, did not. She was completely grossed out by how skinny his legs are.

It is pretty remarkable how good of a player he is with basically zero muscle mass.

She can have Timme. I'll take Chet. Hmm, maybe I should word that differently. Nah.

Theo John is on Duke, WTF? Has John been in college for eight years? Also, college refs make college basketball pretty hard to watch.

I fell asleep for the second half, and agree that at least in the first half Banchero looked much better. But to be fair, in those 20 minutes, he looked like probably the best player in college basketball. He couldn't miss.

Chet will be all about potential because of his size, but his skillset is nutty. Someone said he compared favorably to Evan Mobley at the same stage. Chet has more guard skills, but he's also like 30lb lighter which is wild.
