Given that paying fans want to see their favorites on the floor and given that foul trouble cuts a lot of guys nights short, do you think a little more leeway might increase the quality of the game and fan experience?

I think more fouls might lead to more injuries, it could slow down the game for free throw shooting, and more teams might be willing to play Hack-a-Shaq on bad shooters like Ben Simmons and Plumlee.

It would probably help the Wolves, simply keeping KAT in more games.

What about a rule for young players then. Give them one more for the first 2-3 years? I see your points and they are not wrong. But then I look at guys like MCD and I wonder if they had more leash could they develop faster and better.

It should drop to 5. Fine officials for bad calls. Start getting back to actual basketball instead of sports entertainment.

If the good players need the rules changed to be successful, are they good players or just entertainment?

That only works if you get rid of the bias superstar nonsense and enforce everything fairly. Also refs will let a lot more go and players will likely get hurt (some of them seriously,) because refs fear losing part of their paycheck by blowing aggressively.

Having different rules for different players seems needlessly convoluted, in all honesty.

With the level of stat keeping in the NBA I doubt it would cause problems to let young players have one extra. If your really worried young players could wear a patch for the refs so they know off hand.

How about we just stop calling super minor ticky tack fouls? It ruins the flow of the game. Officials....be consistent in your calls. Is that too much to ask?

Nobody comes to see the officials raise their hand. They can always reign them in if it get's out of hand.

Let em play!!
