Here's my reminder from yesterday, putting it here so we are all aware...

Hey folks, friendly reminder that the best way to not get these threads locked is to remember we're on a basketball forum and stick to basketball talk. Please keep your PhD's in the fields of virology and immunology tucked away. Discuss the impact on the player, the team, and the league. How will this impact the team, etc? What kind of trade could be made?

The thing that happens is people start posting their thoughts on the virus and the vaccine, giving opposite theories, making dubious statements and linking dubious sources. Then others start flagging things as misinformation.

Then the mods are over here like, Yo, we're not experts on COVID. We're moderators on a basketball website. We don't want to sit here and act like we're the arbiters of truth as it relates to science and medicine. So how are the mods supposed to mod this?

We have a current affairs board, and there are many other sites where people are encouraged to discuss and debate COVID and the vaccines. This isn't one of them. The RGM NBA General Board is for basketball discussion. Derailment will result in warnings and strikes. Thanks.
Gonna miss KP but he's no Georges Niang.

Plain and simple, Irving should just be traded to New Orleans or Orlando, play on a team where the CITY mandate is not even present. Have him play on a tanking team.

This only happens with KD's(and to some extent Harden) approval and I actually don't think it will happen this season because I think Durant and Harden both still think that they can win a title on their own without Irving playing. But if they lose early or don't win I could see them giving the go-ahead after the season is over to trade him. The bigger question is would the Nets/KD give Kyrie the heads up and let him know that they are actively trying to trade him in order to avoid the potential public blowback from him if you do it without his knowledge. Kyrie seems like the type who would be vocal if you betray him.

The Sixers would do this in a heartbeat though. A heartbeat.

Really don’t see why they are waiting this long to trade him and they didn’t seem eager to work out a new deal with him.Trade him for the best west coast offer you can get so he doesn’t potentially get in the way by being on a east team

Any team trading for Kyrie has to understand that if they offer equal value, they will make the nets that much more stronger because they will essentially be adding an all star or fringe all star player to the nets roster.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

There needs to be a new clause in the new CBA agreement where if a player is not available to play due to their own personal choice, the said player should not be paid. What Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons is doing would get you fired with no pay anywhere else in the world. Even guys like Satya Nadella or Jeff Wilkes, the big CEOs.

That may be a consideration for many teams but the Sixers would be the one team that likely wouldn’t care. A Simmons for Kyrie swap makes sense for all parties involved.

I wasnt sure Kyrie is the right fit in first place. I think they need a massive inside threat on both ends more than another ball dominant guard.

Simmons would only make sense if he's willing to play off the ball. I wouldnt tkae the ball out of Hardens hands to let Simmons run the offense.

Was a big Duke fan when Kyrie was in college, and for sentimental reasons would love to cheer for this guy, but my word the constant drama with him is so annoying. I could even accept the argument that some of it is media manufactured, but a lot of it is not and it just makes it really hard to pull for him.

If he stuck in one place with a good GM that built around him, he could be a literal GOAT. Now he's just a shifty, unorthodox mercenary that is very difficult to pull for.

Negotiations for the next CBA will be very, very interesting.

It's also time to question whether basketball is a priority for Kyrie.

Most logical choice is Simmons for Irving. Seems like a massive win for both teams who effectively gain an all-star for a player who isn't playing resulting in massive bumps to both teams.

With that said i see Philly as extremely motivated sitting at 11-11 and completely out of the playoff currently.
The Nets are 15-6, first place in the east, and look like they can win the title without Kyrie so their primary focus is gonna be to not piss of Durant or Harden.

Kyrie isn’t getting paid for home games, ie the ones he chooses to sit out.

Why would the Sixers do this?

There's no guarantee Kyrie will ever play again. He's injury prone even when he does play.

I would much rather have some great draft picks or a couple good young players in return for Simmons.

Going to be an absolute nightmare. Headed toward lockout.
