Messi is on a 673 million USD 4 yr deal. If there was no salary cap do you think any NBA players would earn as much?

Lionel Messi is on a 4 year contract where he's making 168 million a season. How many if any NBA players would be able to command that much?

Not close to that imo. That contract basically bankrupted that club by the way.

I don't think that was the question or that it was implied that NBA players would make more

To answer the question... much less than that  Maybe $75-100 mil per for a prime Jordan/LeBron level player.

Would the NBA player also win his 7th Ballon d'Or? Maybe MJ would be worth it.

Otto Porter got paid 100 mills over 4 seasons averaging 12 points a game. LeBron would get 100mill a season.

This is why US/north American pro sports teams are worth more then Euro football clubs, even when the Euro football clubs have more revenue.

No this is his psg contract and no he did not bankrupt Barcelona, he also brought in a pretty decent sum of money to the club.

Stupid signings and high wages by the former board is to blame for nearly bankrupting Barcelona.

I remember reading that when Lebron went back to Cleveland he brought roughly 1 billion dollars worth of revenue with him to the city. I suppose using numbers like that you could justify paying a player a salary north of 100 million. After all if a player brings his team / city tons of money, I suppose he is worth such a massive salary.

To be fair, Lionel Messi is an established brand in himself and Paris Saint Germain are owned by the Qatar Investment Authority which is the country's wealth sovereign fund. A country that has major money to blow so that's a huge difference right there. And he's a worldwide figure.

As for NBA players I don't see them earning anywhere near that amount. Maybe 75-100M/year minus endorsements as one poster stated but nowhere more than that for now.

Pele clearly...Dude played against defenders who couldn't even stand in a proper defensive stance.
