IND-LAL :: the way I see Lakers getting Turner

Post#1 » by zimpy27 » Sun Dec 12, 2021 12:46 am

So some reports of Lakers going for Turner. Seems unlikely to be legit and more likely the Lakers are being used to get Turners name out there.

Anyway, here is the way I see Lakers getting Turner..

Lakers get Turner, Brogdon, Duarte
Westbrook, Brogdon, THT, LeBron, Turner -- Nunn, Duarte, Ariza, Melo, Howard
Lakers go for high level depth players to surround Westbrook and LeBron. Even though they lose the most talented piece, they do seem to fit together as a better team.

Pacers get Davis, Ellington, Bradley
McConnell, Holiday, Warren, Davis, Sabonis -- Bradley, Lamb, LeVert, Jackson, Goga
Pacers find a PF that can anchor a defense so that Sabonis can slide to the C. Pacers starters are bookended by playmaking and have a number of shooters.

It’s an interesting thought. I agree AD is probably the only way the Lakers can put the value together. And in theory AD/Sabonis could wreck some folks. But I don’t think the Lakers trade AD and I’m not sure about the rest of the team for Indy after this.

I was under the impression that Brogdon couldn't be traded right now and I don't think the Pacers want Duarte going anywhere.

I can’t see LAL sending AD but their other assets are trash.

This is at least better than the scrubs and SRP for Turner because reasons.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

So, that “LA has talked to Indy about Turner” report is actually a willfully misinterpreted reference to a Scott Agness podcast where Scott reported that LA talked tonIndy about Turner in past seasons. Nothing about this year. Not your fault. Just the aggregators and Lakers site that tweeted it.

Otherwise, Brogdon can’t legally be traded this season, so this can’t happen at all this season as is.

AD is interesting, but LA isn’t dealing him. And I doubt Indy would be much, if at all, better after a deal like this.

Ahh I see, sounded pretty optimistic. Moving AD is the only asset to even try imo.

Oh is Brogdon done for whole season, I forgot that.

Mods can lock it up then

I feel like a lot of people have lost their minds on AD, your going to trade an all-NBA talent at 28 to get a 25 year old 7-year vet who hasn't averaged 15 ppg or 8 boards once in his entire career?

The Lakers traded away all of their depth for WB, and now they are going to turn around and trade AD for depth 25 games in?

Keep AD, extend him as soon as they can, start the retool around him, and whoever you can land in the 2023 FA (Jokic, Harden, Beal, Irving), or even wait until 2024 (Booker, Towns, Leonard, Lillard, PG, Brown) if you have to.

LBJ is getting old, and WB single-handedly tanks a team's ability to win in the postseason, the Lakers don't have picks, or valuable young pieces to move to get better. It sucks, but the window closes for everybody, if the Lakers are going to win another ring it won't be from breaking AD into pieces, they are going to have to do with what they got.

Didn't AD force a trade to Lakers?

Can't see him being happy being traded to Pacers

But sure, on paper AD looks like a great addition to the Pacers

Locked per OP's request as they didn't realize the extension made Brogdon unable to be traded this season.
