Love this breakdown and I think Finch has done a great job developing an effective defensive scheme with the players they have.

I hope this is a permanent change for DLo. Minny absolutely needs some players who haven't historically defended to step up there. And for DLo it's the difference between a long career and out of the rotation in 3/4 years.

Yeah me too. He's clearly a good communicator and using his court vision to quarterback the defense is a very smart way to use him. He has decent enough size to stay low and just throw himself at a save. It's kind of insane how effective it has been so far.
DLo is rocking a +20 on/off plus-minus per 100 possessions. I've never seen a rotation player with number that high since 15-16 Curry.

This is not a thread title I thought I would ever see here. Good for DLo

This is advanced defensive acumen. Dude is literally standing up straight, completely relaxed while telling his teammates what to do because he can anticipate what's going to happen. Always knew DLo had decent bball iq simply cause it's not easy to put up his offensive numbers with limited athletic ability, but I would never have guessed that it would translate to the defensive end too.

He's only 25. To be out of the rotation he would have to be closer to a lance stephenson type of player. Never really relied much on his athleticism and has good size for a PG at 6'4. I agree that this will extend his career as a starter/rotation player, but even without this defense he probably would have had another 7 years left of being a good bench piece.
If he starts drawing charges, he could maybe even have a poor man's Kyle Lowry kind of defensive impact moving into his 30s.
