Rate the Bulls fan base 1-10

Post#1 » by bearadonisdna » Fri Dec 31, 2021 6:31 pm

Chicago is a big city and will have it bad apples .
But overall how do you rate the entirety of your fellow bulls fans .

Let’s use some denominators

-Passion -8
-Loyalty -9
-Respectability -7
-Knowledgable-8

So this would come out to an average of 8. Not bad not great . Would pick up in the respectability factor like not start ignorant chants at games that seems to happen often .
Or those with the meatiest meatball mentalities .
Like der ah I don’t understand strategy put dah ball in da hoop. Zach was nothing until he average 23 ppg type fans.

————————————-
Anyways Phil Jackson literally said that a particular fan base gets in their teams way. Bulls fans are not above this reproach . Check yourself before you wreck yourself bulls fans.

So how do you rate the rest the your bulls fans peers?

Sorry gang, love you all personally and as fellow Bulls homers, but as far as basketball goes, I'ma be harsh: 6.

I feel like underdog try-hards and youth prospects got overrated, while proven/playoff-tested scorers with slight defensive liabilities got underrated. Before these last few games, I'm certain a Bulls poll would show about a majority would rather have Thad over Vuc, cause apparently Vuc's shooting slump is here to stay (despite being a career anomaly) and his defense is a complete liability (whereas a $15m Thad in his 15-20 mpg is supposed to take us somewhere better). It's like play creation, on-ball/off-ball spacing threats and general offensive gravity was completely overlooked.

It took a whole new FO rehaul to realize it, but good things happen when you stop putting most of your salary cap and picks into Kirks and Noahs, and actually focus on guys with ball-handling, iso scoring and playmaking abilities.

I just kind of got the sense Bulls fans would rather be masochistic, have low hopes and lose games "fighting" (wash down the pain with Arci and Shaq) then actually "going for it" with some talent and building an offensive squad. GarPax had about 2 "offensive" teams out of 16 years (if we want to call em that... ultimately Gordon/Rose/Boozer/Gasol were the only star-caliber offense-first players, and Nate on a good night; even Jimmy was more of a defensive all-rounder). At the end of the day, the point of the game is to put the ball in the basket, and you don't do that by having Kirk and Noah pass the ball around the perimeter. Just kind of bugged me seeing support for those kinds of builds.

EDIT: bumping to 8. It's been a brutal 2+ decades and there's a strong Bulls community. Some fanbases are way more on/off the wagon (cough, the Celtics), and that's just depressing.

DOUBLE EDIT: bumping to 10. DA BULLS

Aww don’t use that as a cop out . 90% of my post or more are on this very board .
And this is actually what I’m talking about in respectability factor and you basically just came in to ruin the thread instead of having input.

I'm just messing around lol.

Bulls have a solid fanbase. Years of Garpax abuse has dampered it. I'll say one thing, the UC doesn't get popping like other arenas do.

Yea I’ll give it them on loyalty .
For a lot bulls fans it’s bulls or bust . They would rather just turn off their tv than watch another team play the sport.

Legends would say it would be Knicks fans.
But the you know the more you grow , lately I feel there’s been too much pro tank while they have a window of competitiveness.

Boston would be the only other fan base I would guess but I can’t act like I’m an expert on fan bases. That being said we know Boston is passionate but they still not outdoing Knicks fans in my book .

it was a joke, dude

back on topic...the UC can feel like a mausoleum at times, particularly when the team isn't good, so bulls fans certainly aren't a 10 these days. back at the REAL "madhouse on madison" in the late-'80s, early-'90s, on the other hand...

portland, utah and the knicks definitely have excellent fans historically. more recently so do OKC and toronto (just look at their message board here)

the worst? detroit, miami, atlanta
God help Ukraine
God help those fleeing misery to come here
God help the Middle East
God help the climate
God help US health care

While I agree with the overall point of your post - that the fanbase often values defense and effort so highly that it sometimes comes at the expense of better offensive players - as a Noah stan, I can't not say something here. Don't do him dirty. He's one of the most beloved players in recent franchise history, he was an emotional leader, he had the heart of a champion, and those teams wouldn't have been NEARLY the same without him. That "Joakim Noah" night he got earlier this season? I don't think there are three post-dynasty Bulls players that would've gotten the reception he got. Maybe Derrick. I'm not even sure Jimmy would at this point. Jo is a legend of the franchise.

And while my defense of Kirk won't be as zealous, I will say that I feel Bulls fans would always have a soft spot for him - the man played more games in a Bulls uniform than any player in franchise history not named Jordan or Pippen, he's the franchise's all-time leader in 3P FGs made, he's #3 on the franchise's all time steals and assists lists, behind Jordan and Pippen on both accounts, and he's #8 all time in points scored. He may not have been a great player, but he was a great role player(while this stuff is largely a function of longevity, not everyone who played as many games and minutes as he did would've put up those numbers) and a huge part of the franchise's history.

Anyway, again, I agree with your main point, you're right, the fanbase goes overboard with defense vs offense sometimes.

How are we anything less than a 11/10? You want actual awful fans, look at the Lakers. Entitled pompous ass holes.
