My guess for trade targets:
Defensive players under contract from bottom feeder teams -- and a backup PG.

Re: Hawks Plan to Be Active at 2022 NBA Trade Deadline
Schlenk mentioned NOT trading 3/4 players but rather a Rondo/Lou type deal that we had last season that helped.
So I wouldn't get too excited about 'big' name guys.
I think he'll look to move Gallo and Lou.

Schlenk said he will not trade 10 players, he didn't say anything about 3 or 4 guys. I am hoping he trades 3 for 1 star.

from the 10 minute mark...."you have to be careful there, we try to be active at every trade deadline...really unrealistic to trade 5 guys (not the 3/4 I mentioned), that just doesn't happen" then he goes on to reference the Lou/Rondo trade as well as the Braves making trades 'around the edges' to improve the team. He then follows up with "when I say be active at the trade deadline it doesn't mean trading 10 people - it means looking for ways to improve the team"

Re: Hawks Plan to Be Active at 2022 NBA Trade Deadline
The Athletic
The Hawks have an offensive rating of 117.1 with Young on the floor this season (which would be the best offense in the NBA) and a 100.2 offensive rating when Young sits. The on-off splits in Young’s career when he’s on the bench are startling. It was supposed to be fixed this season with Delon Wright, but he’s not a scorer or facilitator; he’s better suited in an off-ball role. Williams is not a traditional point guard either, and he’s mostly been a liability on both ends.
Changes appear necessary for the Hawks. We’re almost halfway through the season. At some point, you are what you are. It would not be a surprise to see the Hawks address this area before the trade deadline. It’s a major issue and one of the reasons this team can’t maintain leads or keep a relatively close deficit.
The Hawks have the means to take big swings to improve the roster if they wanted to do so. Ben Simmons, one of the game’s best defenders, remains available. I’ve mentioned before how much his defense would be welcomed, and he could be the point guard when Young sits, as he’s one of the game’s best passers too. Detroit’s Jerami Grant could be an interesting option. He likely could be had for much cheaper than what Simmons likely would cost.

I see that we have the "we're doomed" and the "their guys are better than our guys" thread
I just can't understand why noone has made a legit offer for BS....why isn't he playing for his current team? Why anyone thinks that trading a bunch of value from our current team to get this headcase is a good idea

I'm all for making a trade that improves the team, but it needs to make sense for now and for the future.

Per Sam Amick:

But there’s a fine line between roster depth and roster dilution, and sources say the Hawks — well aware that their rotations are a bit crowded when fully healthy — are on the lookout for a one-for-two type of deal for an impact player. Veteran forward Danilo Gallinari (just $5 million of his $21.4 million guaranteed on his deal for next season) and third-year small forward Cam Reddish, it seems, are the most likely candidates to be headed out.

These are just silly. Who wants Gallo? A contender as an offensive spark off the bench and then expiring. Why would a win now team want Cam and then trade us a win now player for the two. Makes no sense.
If it's not a contender than they see no interest in Gallo and they have to believe in Cam and then have a win now player that fits for us. Just throwing out there... maybe Buddy H. Would Sac make a move like that?
I just think that these deals are silly. Like Jamaal's list. Half the guys on that list are on teams that are not tanking so why would they make a trade with us to give us a win now player?
Is Cam going to develop? He's still a kid and he's definately shown signs of high potential. If we can get someone really good and win now for Gallo and Cam; why not? Once we get healthy is this team not ready to make a run in the POs as is?
Just don't get into a desperation trade where we lose value. This is the first time ...ever that they Hawks have done things right and are set up for years with big potential. This year has been an aberation and should not be a reason to panic

Does not neccesarily have to be a win now team.
Gallo's $5 million guarantee for next season is the 'attraction' for a team looking to lower salary for next season.
Adding Cam to the deal would hopefully give us an 'upgraded player'

So you're talking about a losing team that would be looking to be cheap and reduce salary by giving us a win now player thinking that saving money and getting Cam (who needs to be paid) is a good deal for them.
The only team that I can think of is Pistons. What do you think? Grant for Gallo / Cam? Is it good for us? Will the Pistons bite? Do we need to add pick?

I mean there are only a few teams that work...Pistons, NO, Houston, OKC
Grant is a maybe
Ingram is too expensive for us without sending out a lot more value
Houston has Wood
OKC...SGA, we would have to trade a ton of talent to get him

It was interesting listening to Hollinger & Duncan talk so casually about OO's defensive POTY potential. On a team with Trae Young, this is the easiest poll I've answered in a while.

Never heard their podcast but I feel the same way, maybe not poty but just really really good defender. I like his ability to defend at the 3 levels from the basket. Guys like him are crucial to build around a guy like Trae.

Having both Clint and Onyeka is needed for the playoffs. And the way Onyeka defended on Embiid last playoffs, in his first year, no way he's traded

Ben Simmons makes to much for me to be interested. He might be a good defender but he will be paid up to $40m per season in the final year of his contract.
