BOS x LAL: AD for Brown

Post#1 » by toooskies » Fri Jan 7, 2022 3:30 pm

(Not until January 14th)

LAL sends:
Anthony Davis
Talen Horton-Tucker
Kendrick Nunn

BOS sends:
Jaylen Brown
Al Horford
Payton Pritchard

Why for LA:
Anthony Davis isn't stretching the floor and is injury-prone, THT might be a negative contract, Kendrick Nunn hasn't played. They aren't getting it done. This turns their one max salary into two near-max guys who will contribute right now. Brown as the Robin to Lebron's Batman that could reasonably step up to be the #1 option as Lebron gets older; Horford taking the big man minutes and pass/shoot as well as AD can. Horford is also a movable piece in the offseason. Pritchard is there mostly as a young-talent piece going back for LAL to over-hype the way they've done with THT, but all three pieces here space the floor.

Why for Boston:
Stevens isn't going to sell low on Brown to fix things here. But Brown and Tatum are too similar in role and neither one fixes the team. AD slots in better as primary defender/secondary scorer to Tatum's primary scorer. AD doesn't have to play C when Timelord is in, saving some wear and tear. Nunn is another shot at finding a reasonable PG, and THT can learn from Smart on how to be productive despite mediocre shooting. They also save a bit of money here this year.

No interest in an aging, declining AD. Brown could be packaged elsewhere for someone who better fits the future. He doesn’t make them any more of a contender now and sets them further away from a championship than if Brown is to stay. Plus his dad, and I think he too, trashed the C’s years ago when shooting his way out of New Orleans.

i mean would be gamble on boston part to take on AD but this probably the best roster they could get to fit around Tatum.

AD supposedly did not want to go to Boston, can't see the celts trading for a player that does not want to be there.

This is bad for the Lakers. I don't have Horford as positive and there have obviously been issues with Brown (and I like Brown). Lakers are still stuck with Westbrook. It feels a pick or two light.

I feel like RW needs to be added for value matching. Something like RW+AD for Brown+Horford+Juancho+Richardson.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

Lakers should do this in a heartbeat.
