DFS resigns for 52/54M for 4 seasons

Post#1 » by guille_4 » Sat Feb 12, 2022 12:57 am

I’ve seen two figures, 52M/4y and 54M/4y, with a player option on the fourth.

That’s pretty bad value. 13M+ is rich and the player option is the cherry on top of it.

I wouldn’t have done more than 10M per season with no options.

I'm not happy about this contract but 13M is slighty above the MLE this year and probably near the MLE next year, plus he is in his prime.
We can flip him to a contender any moment probably, he has a good value around the league (probably better that his real value).

Good signing. He is our best defender on of the best defensive teams in the league. Any other team would have paid him the same. He is 28 years, meaning we get a vet that will finish his contract when he leaves his prime. Good signing. Don't see how anyone can consider this bad.

Here are the contract details: https://www.spotrac.com/nba/dallas-mavericks/dorian-finney-smith-20757/
So, he basically earns around $14 million per year. Not a good/great bargain by any means, but not a bad deal. Thus, it's fair for both sides. I can't be mad at that.
Well done DFS, you've earned this!
