I sure hope Ayton sees this as one of the "marquee games" of the season and brings the effort and focus we know he can. This is one game he should absolutely dominate since LA starts a skinny 6-9 Stanley Johnson next to Lebron and Dwight barely plays anymore. Their front line is weak as hell

Is it good or bad Ayton only seems to play well when the competition is high? Good he has that ceiling, bad he doesn't have the drive/consistency

I actually thought in year 1 and 2 he really struggled against the good players, got intimidated or whatever it was - so I guess how he is now is preferable to how he was then ha

At this point it's neither good or bad. It just is

But I do take your point, it's frustrating when you don't know which mindset Ayton has on from game to game but for the most part, it does seem like he rises the challenge...when it's drilled into his head that a match up is a sufficiently big challenge. If not, then you have guys like Sengun dropping 19/14 on us or he shows up with a 8/6 performance.
