Better player: Mikal/Miles/Herro

Post#1 » by Slim Charless » Fri Apr 1, 2022 9:24 pm

So this is from an idea another poster made. Only with the options for people to decide.

Mikal Bridges:

14.4/4.5/2/2 and shooting 53/38/83 splits

Fantastic defender and elite glue guy who might very well win DPOTY. Also putting his numbers on mostly putbacks and broken plays as the Suns don't run a ton of offense for him. Currently 25 yrs old.

Miles Bridges:

20/7/3/1 and shooting 50/33/80 splits

Highly athletic scorer who has had a incredible break out year and could be ready to be the 2nd best player on a title contending team. Currently 24 yrs old.

Tyler Herro:

20/5/4/.7 and shooting 44/39/87 splits

Lock for 6MOTY and maybe the best scorer for the Eastern division leader/champs. Crunch time proven during the bubble run Miami had to the Finals. Currently 22yrs old.

Who would you rather have on your team?

Mikal for DPOY, and certainly to win this poll.

Props to the OP for doing his best to sell the two players that don't play for his favorite team.

Mikal is the best of these players, but would be the worst of the three if forced to be a primary option. I know Miles was the flavor of the month to start the season, but I think long-term I feel better about Herro as an offensive lynchpin.

Mikal
Herro
Miles

But no shade at Miles who has been a bit of a revelation this year.

The idea of swapping Miles for Herro is laughable to me. He's definitely last

Good thread. I put all these guys in the "really useful piece of a very good team" category, though i haven't seen enough of Miles to decide whether I buy him as the second option on a title team.

I chose Mikal. I love good defenders and he definitely is one of the best at what he does. He's in a great environment to learn how to have success and I have no doubt that he'll be a really useful player wherever he goes moving forward.

I love Herro (was just having a discussion about it), but his defense is still a notably weak point. I could be convinced of Miles, I just haven't watched him enough to be honest.

Charlotte is probably my 2nd favorite team to watch due to Lamelo and Eric Collins (GOAT Play by play guy)...but ya, not alot of Heat games in my house lol.

Until he proves it otherwise, Herro is latest Jamal Crawford/Lou Williams. Guy who can get his own shot at a near-star level, but that's the entirety of his value. Gives it all back on the defensive end and can't make any physical impact on the game. He's a really important player in Miami, but until I now you can keep him on the floor in crunch time of a playoff game, I'm hesitant to give the boy his due. He's about to answer all these questions I bet. He had big moments in Miami's finals run, but he was also a bonus scorer, and he couldn't step up when Dragic got hurt. He's 2 years older now and Miami is very reliant on his shot creation.

We're in the first year of Miles Bridges, all-star? He's putting up star numbers and deserves to be noticed. I have lots of questions about his defense and shooting and I don't think we'll have an answer there until Charlotte is in the playoffs.

Mikal is 2-3 years older and is the guy on this list who isn't averaging 20ppg. But he's also the most efficient and the best defender. We already saw this dude make a consistent impact in the playoffs and help a team in the finals. I'll probably always pick the solid, all-around guy who provides value to a championship-level team over the 20ppg scorers who may or may not. So I have an archetypal bias here but I'm picking Mikal.

Herro was able to stay on the floor all the way through the Finals in 2020. That take makes no sense...

I voted Mikal Bridges.
He's good now but will greatly improve over the next few years as his role expands.

Herro is good, Miles is excellent, and Mikal is the best of them.

Gotta go Mikal, but I'm biased. I know the kid's fam. Top notch individuals. Great support around him.
