https://ftw.usatoday.com/2022/05/warriors-grizzlies-dillon-brooks-gary-payton-cheap-shot-nba-suspension

Memphis' Dillon Brooks needs to be suspended for his cheap shot on Gary Payton II

It was a dirty play that deserves a much more severe penalty than just missing most of last night’s game.

It’s also a play that adds even more storylines to this series that has been a fantastic on thus far. Morant and Co. vs. Steph Curr and Co. has been electric and it should be crazy Saturday night at the Chase Center when the Warriors will look to take a 2-1 series lead at home.

It’s a shame Payton won’t be a part of that game and there’s no way Brooks should be a part of it, too.

We’ll have to wait and see if the NBA agrees.

It's unfortunate that GP2 got hurt and will miss the rest of the series/playoffs but i don't think it was dirty and i don't think it warrants a suspension. The flagrant 2 was the correct call.

It's sad that Kerr is pandering to the media asking for a suspension when draymond gets away with everything from eye pokes to kick to the groin.

https://bealestreetbears.com/2022/05/04/memphis-grizzlies-dillon-brooks-suspended/

Memphis Grizzlies: Will Dillon Brooks be suspended for foul on Gary Payton II?

But, for the Grizzlies, the attention now turns to Brooks and whether or not he’ll be available to play. There are serious talks around the league that he may be suspended for at least a game, possibly more for his actions.

There is some recent precedence for a situation such as this. During the regular-season Milwaukee Bucks player Grayson Allen was in a similar situation in which he committed a flagrant-2 foul on Chicago Bulls player Alex Caruso. It resulted in Caruso breaking his wrist, which kept him out of action for months.

The NBA suspended Allen for one game for that play. Brooks could be looking at something similar, which would put his availability for Game 3 at Golden State in serious jeopardy.

The Warriors have typically been hesitant to depart from their base offense, but I do think they need to shift to running a little more high pick and roll with Steph and make a concerted effort to target Morant. The Grizzlies are so athletic, they're able to shut down a lot of the off-ball movement and back cut stuff. The Warriors were getting really good looks in Game 1 with those Curry/Payton II short rolls, obviously Draymond is a good P&R partner with Steph but maybe you see if Kuminga can slot into that role as well.

I could see the warriors winning the next 3 games tbh. GSW blew game 2.

Ja was insane last night though, that was fun to watch. No answer for him or JJJ. Such a good series, and some obvious holes in the warriors’ roster

I am not feeling good about the Warriors, they are bad in tight game situation… this will be tight series in all games

They just lost their best perimeter defender and Bane hasnt done anything all series because of injury. Despite that every game has gone down the wire. The series is close enough that you could argue the Grizzlies could win the next 3 as well.

I expect at least one game where the Grizzlies puts it all together. This was not it, they are playing uncharacteristic ball (for them).

Game two was a classic PG duel between Curry and Morant. But that was a superb game by Ja, his attacking and rim pressure are endless, like 47/8/8 is nothing to sneeze at. Dubs need to start doubling him every time cause he can just blow by people, but he can split them just as well and then you’re really screwed.

Klay needs to accept coming off the bench. Maybe one of the reasons Curry agreed to do it earlier was it’d be easier to have that conversation with Klay now when it needs to happen. If Curry came off the bench then Klay can too. Or at least he should have no objection.

Also, I don’t think Iggy would be playable this series even if he were healthy.

It’s a pretty fascinating series, the whole old vs new is always interesting. Feels like a shifting of the guard. Have to see how Golden State responds.

Love my Warriors....but they could lose this series IF Curry and Klay don't show up. Both have been relatively awful (or just awful). If it wasn't for Poole I think Denver would have gone 6 or 7. And with Memphis, there is no excuse to take a back seat to Poole while Ja goes off.

Hoping the Splash brothers come out and dominate in game 3....but expecting it would way too much based on their first round performances and this series so far.

Am I the only one who think Warriors win by 25 in game 3? Seeing how much Memphis feeds off the crowd and the home cooking they got I don't think it's close in SF.

Memphis closing with a crazy young lineup considering this is round 2 of the playoffs. Probably not the youngest group ever and I'm not going to check ha, but still impressive.

Memphis was the 3rd best road team in the NBA this year if that affects your thinking. Only Phoenix and Phili were better in terms of wins/losses.
