Should Orlando Magic Acquire Another Top 5 Pick?

Post#1 » by T-Cat » Mon May 23, 2022 7:44 pm

We all know the relationship between Suggs and Holmgren. What if Suggs is in Chet's ear about not working out for teams and doing interviews with teams except Orlando!

This could go in our favor!

We can select Shaedon Sharpe #1 and trade WCJ, Okeke and etc. for another lottery pick.

One team might be interested in Wendell Carter around draft time is the Portland Trail Blazers. Would they give their lottery pick up for him?

#7 Lottery Pick plus Cole Anthony to the Rockets for #3 Pick.

We'll definitely be setting ourselves up for another high 2023 NBA draft selection!

Suggs didn't workout for Orlando and they still took him.

Orlando doesn't need 2 top 5 picks, what Orlando needs to do is to start bringing in solid vets to help mentor and show the young guys how the NBA works and what it takes.

If there was any sane way to get another top 5, now is the time to do it! I'd take Sharpe and either Banchero or Jabari.
Fultz, Sharpe, Frantz, Jabari or Paulo, and WCJ is a scary starting 5.

Not a chance any those deals would be accepted. This isn;t 2k to get a valuable asset like a top 5 pick you have to give up significant value. A more realistic scenario is Sharpe falls to 7 and you call Portland and offer WCJR+ and a pick swap of our pick next year. If Portland declines, you toss in the Bulls pick too. Portland takes that. Are you willing to do it though? If Shadeon Sharpe blew me away in a workout I might. I doubt Sharpe is even there at 7 though. If he is then he must not have been impressing in workouts.

That's a pretty impressive lineup! We would be fun to watch finally!

This is a big season for Fultz IMO

Since we’re dreaming, why not top 2?

Why though? You already have enough young players trying to figure it out and only so much playing time.

I'd only do it to take a flyer on Sharpe, just in case he's magic in a bottle.

At this point, JI is not even a play-now veteran, imagine a win-now.

Personally I do not want the Magic to have a second top-5 pick. The first one is a probable non-starter without a change in the roster. How can the Magic have two bench players drafted in the top-5? It makes no sense for a roster.

I do favour trading 32 and 35 (perhaps with Ross) to get in to the 20s though. Notably, if the Magic could get Nikola Jovic's rights, this would be an important trade for Orlando.

That's actually kind of interesting...Vivek might pull the "I'm the smartest guy in the room" / "crazy like a fox" thing, ignore his staff, and take that chance...it could even payoff. Not sure if Anthony holds as much value for Sac as he might elsewhere, but value wise (IF Isaac plays)-this isn't unrealistic, IMO.

I wouldn't rule out flipping #4 with all of our available cap for another young stud if we aren't completely sold on Sharpe or Ivey having star power.

Anyone open to trading Suggs for another top 5 pick?.. Ivey? Sharpe? Murray?

Don’t think Suggs holds that value after such a crap offensive season. But I absolutely know for a fact that Isaac and Cole aren’t getting us a top 5 pick. Kings would ask for #1 attached to them for taking on their salary lol.

We do have assets to move. We don't use early second round picks and we have 2 this year. There's Ross who has publicly asked to leave the team. Some on here are of absolute opinion on Cole, okeeke, and Suggs of not worth continuing to spend time on so trade now. It's worth doing our do diligence for but I don't see the carrot being dangled for that combination of picks/players netting us a 4 point play

We should seriously try to do this.
