Rockets - Kings

Post#1 » by zimpy27 » Fri Jun 3, 2022 8:18 am

Rockets get Fox, Len, Harkless
Rockets get a PG to pair with Green in the backcourt. This provides the playmaking the Rockets need moving forward.

Kings get Wall, Tate(TPE), KPJ(TPE), #17
Kings move on from Fox and look towards a Davion/KPJ backcourt pairing. Kings produce a lot of capspace in 2023.

I see a value gap here, especially because the Kings are going against the win-now direction that they just signed up for. The Kings would need more. I also don’t see KPJ having much value trade-wise and even less value to the Kings. That cap space won’t help at all. Kings stand pat.

It doesn't make sense for the Rockets to take on long term money until they know what their core is going to be.

There are quite a few highly rated PG prospects in the 2023 draft, which we may very well land. Scoot Henderson or Anthony Black, etc.

I don't necessarily see a problem with value, but I do agree that I'm not sure the Kings can just burn a year of Domas' deal like this. They made the bet that Fox can rehabilitate his trade value with his play. I'm not sure that's a great bet, but they already went all in.

Probably a bit too early for Houston to make a jump like this. I like Fox more than most but his contract is starting to look a little shaky. I'd consider it though at this price. Think they'll still have cap space to cause someone like Turner or Hunter

Agree that SAC probably doesn't want to wait another year tho

I think the Kings told us 1 of 2 things with the Haliburton trade at the deadline:

#1: We're ride or die with Fox
#2: We're open to moving Fox, but his trade value is too far in the **** to move him

Based on (2) I think they'd reject this pretty easily.
