Good signing. I’m really liking the big man rotation now. Find a way to get another Wing and then sign Dragic and this team is pretty set.

Don't get me too excited that Phoenix would just give us JaVale for Powell

At 20 mil over three years for a 34 year old? That's an overpay...

Love this signing. At some point we need to get a star for Luka. I’d imagine Javale would look excellent on Defense with us.

Yeah, a bit of an overpay. Hartenstein went for 16m/2.

I guess he was my 4th favourite target at center.

So we get him after all, good.

At least we got the best of the cheap free agent centers. He plays defense well enough to limit the scoring of most big centers.

He can start if Wood is injured or needs a day off and he gives Bingham another role model to learn from though Bingham's game is more like Woods with his 3 point shooting ability.

Powell is on a 11M per contract. Which makes McGee's contract look cheap.

Sounds like he's going to be the starting C so Wood can play at the 4 spot more. The money and the signing make sence if thats the case. Good signing.

Still need to see the details of the contract, will be better if the last year is team option or partial guaranteed

I agree. Until I see that, I'll reserve judgement.

From what I've read the third year is a player option. Entire MLE gone. And he was promised the starting job. They seem to view Wood as a PF. It looks to me like the KP at the pf spot story all over again.

The way McGee should be used is in limited minutes against opponents that dominate the mavs inside. Even on the Suns, his minutes decreased in the playoffs. And the mavs seem to be again bucking against the small ball trend. It's a trend for a damn reason, it works. Mcgee should get half of what he's signed for and no player option.

The new FO is really starting to disappoint me...

If the 3rd year is a player option, I don't like it. You overpay him and don't even get a team option?

If they told McGee that he's getting a starting job, it is indeed problematic. They're going to do what they did with Powell? Start him, but play him 15-20mpg?

I guess all we can do now is wait to see how long it takes for all the free agent money to dry up and then offer a few minimum salaries for Dragic and maybe some wing that is available. I just hope we develop our 2 rookies so that we get some added depth at center/PF and whatever position we think Hardy is going to settle into. Javale with Wood is a twin tower scenario that should work well. DFS and Luka plus whoever the hot hand is at the SG is what we will run with and that should be good enough for a ring if everyone pulls together as a team.

He would've went to Milwaukee if the Mavs didn't sign that deal. 3rd year is a player option, so it's really about 2yrs 15mill.

Just because you start the game big doesn't mean they end the game big as well

McGee will be 35 in January and 38 at the end of that contract. He is also someone that significantly relies on his athleticism. I sure hope its a team option for that 3rd year or a partial guarantee.

JaVale will make a nice addition to our team. We can always use a shot blocker and veteran like him. Early on his career I never would have thought he would turn things around and become the veteran that any team will benefit from.
