FMK, Nets Style!

Post#1 » by ecuhus1981 » Thu Sep 15, 2022 4:09 am

Hello, my Nets fan compatriots!

Listen, I would love to see this contending project come to fruition. I would love to see it work, and see us streamroll the league on our revenge tour to a championship. However, we already know that this roster is dynamite, in more ways than one.

According to reports, Kevin lost trust in Ben in the playoffs, when he wouldn't commit to returning from injury for the series. I believe that this was part of the reason for Kevin asking for a trade, and then demanding Tsai to fire Marks and Nash. Durant wants Simmons gone, and Sean and Steve said no. If we rip off an amazing start to the season, we don't hear anything. But if there's even a hint of a rocky start, the New Media mud slinging will be off the meter.

Somehow, the author of our collapse Kyrie Irving has gone (comparatively) under the radar this offseason. Make no mistake, despite his immense talents, if not for 7/11 loyalties and a tepid trade market, he would already be gone. Keeping Seth and Patty underscores the front office's concern for KAI's availability.

What do we do with all of this team uncertainty? Play a game, of course!

If you had to F... (keep for awhile), Marry (make your franchise cornerstone for years), and K (immediately trade) one of these 3, who would they be, and why?

Let's pretend the following 3 deals are on the table:

Durant/Thomas/Sharpe for Wiggins/Wiseman/Poole

Irving for Porzingis/Avdija

Simmons/Harris for Adebayo/Robinson

I believe that the KD being upset with Ben was greatly exaggerated (Not by you Ecuhus, by the media). And even if he was initially upset, I can't see how KD could still hold anything against Ben after the man got surgery.

My first choice would be F....Keep them for a while (This season ). Nobody throws out their lottery ticket before the numbers are drawn. It would be pretty hilarious if we made of lot of noise this season when most of us are not expecting and are unhappy with our players antics. As opposed to when we had high hopes and were all in.

If I had to Marry one of our big 3.......my extremely unpopular choice would be Kyrie. And here is why, I want to see how he reacts to the hardline stance by management. S Smith is predicting an MVP caliber season for KY and he is capable of it. Also, because he wants or wanted to be here. He is a Nets fan himself, he may be out there but he is still one of us.

My choice for K trade....KD/Cam and Sharp for the Warriors package. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Let's just hope that it doesn't turn into a Harding type Standoff.

The KD upset with Ben, Ben exiting a group chat and all that other nonsense was directly refuted. Even if by some stretch of the imagination it was true, KD would have to feel foolish after Ben had to get surgery.

This assertion presupposes that KD is a rational, introspective human being. He's a bona fide superstar, no doubt, but off the court I'm not sure he's all that intelligent.

This is an important point, I'm glad you made it.

For all of Kyrie's warts and limitations, he unequivocally wants to be here. And Ben seems all-in on this fresh start, I'm not pinning all my hopes on him to fulfill his potential but I'm willing to suspend disbelief.

Kevin may be sticking up for KAI, but he's the one who asked to leave and demanded we fire the coach and GM. I view him as the most volatile asset and player among the 3, and that's saying alot.

Yeah, it's crazy how out of the three, KD is the one who i have no idea what's going on. Kyrie wants to be here, Ben has been in town all summer working. KD, who knows what he's thinking

Simmons, I think we're kind of locked-in on. His value is only fractional right now, and if it does rebound, it will likely be because he's looking good, which is a strong argument to keep the young guy. At least for the time being, depending on his growth.

OTOH, while it's tempting to get excited about a hot start and/or the team gelling quickly, I have very little confidence in the team going anywhere in the postseason with KD&KI. Not to mention, there's no question in my mind that these guys just weren't the right ones to build around. Therefore I'd like to see them traded as soon as they regain proper value, or at least a semblance of their real value.

Hopefully do it before the trade deadline with contending teams looking for an asset to push them over the top. Get some good assets and young stars back, and the Nets are back with a good team soon enough, minus the drama queens and aging injury risks.

So KFK (or really DFD) and I'm not ready to M anyone until the season's done.

Hello again, friends!

At the risk of jumping the shark with this whole game, I'd like to expand FMK rules to the entire squad. We're 3rd in the conference at 22-12, riding high ever since firing Nash, promoting Vaughn and hopefully, seemingly refocusing Irving. However, I think we're a move or two away from true contention. Those moves are attainable, IF we're willing to shake up the roster and double down on this season.

So, I will offer my list of 5 each on the roster to either F... (essentially, keep for this season, figure out from there), M.... (build around as roster staples going forward), and K... (trade for whatever better fitting pieces you can get before the trade deadline).

Here is my breakdown, let me know your version!

F...: Harris, O'Neale, Morris, Curry, Sumner

M....: Durant, Irving (I know, I'm a sucker), Claxton, Watanabe, Warren

K...: Simmons, Thomas, Sharpe, Mills, Edwards

Ben has done everything I've expected this season. He's rounding into form, and even this version of him is having a positive impact on winning. The real reason I think that selling him now is in our best interest is twofold:

1) between his history of injury and as a malcontent, I'm leery building around him. A handful of teams could really use his particular set of skills, and we could field some solid offers while mitigating risk. And...

2) I don't trust his fit next to Nic. 4 months ago, I said the same, but I would have preferred to move Claxton. Now, I think he has finally made that jump. The have played better together lately, but the postseason is a whole 'nother game. Playoff teams will scheme us into offensive torpor, unless we move one of them for a stretch option. We may lose the unique point of attack defense that Simmons provides, but I need our offense to flow in order to see us advancing.
