Biggest QB botch in the last five years.

Post#1 » by bluejerseyjinx » Wed Oct 26, 2022 6:48 pm

Last week at the Sports arena I got together with most of my football junkie friends and fantasy buddies and we had quite the conversation on this topic. Thought I would throw it out for us to debate and discuss. It turned out to be very lively and interesting. Could hardly wait to test it out in here due to the demographics involved here. I won't throw all of them in here but here are the top 4 transactions that came up the most.
#1- The Chicago Bears moving up letting go assets by-passing Mahomes and Watson for Trubisky.

#2- Miami Dolphins by-passing Herbert for Tua.

#3- Denver Broncos Giving up almost all of their future draft capital and getting raped By Seattle for Russell Wilson.

#4- San Francisco 49ers Building a top notch, ready to win now championship team outside of QB and RB, and then moving up to get Trey Lance topped off by getting rid of the rest of their future draft capital for CMC.

There a couple other instances brought up, but these were the top 4. Lets have at it ! Which team has set their franchise back the farthest?

I originally Thought the Bears made the biggest botch by not taking Mahomes or Watson. When I look at the other 3 situations and really think about it, I'm not so sure I'm right. I can't help but think what we all would be saying about Miami right now if they had drafted Herbert. Then I shake my head to what Denver did and what they gave up to get Wilson. I never thought in a million years John Elway would ever do something like unless they were on crack.

Denver's biggest problem at the moment is Hackett. He is clearly in over his head.

Russ isn't playing great. But with a better supporting cast, he would be playing much better. It's also clear that he hasn't fully grasped the offense as of yet. The chemistry is off. Things will improve with time.

It's still too early to say who won the trade. Geno has played extremely well. If he keeps playing this well & they hit on the draft picks, then it will look very one-sided. But I'm not ready to give up on Russ just yet.

We drafted Taven Bryan over Lamar Jackson and re-signed Blake Bortles in the 2018 offseason

I love me some Bort, and he did have a really good year in 2017, but that was a bad decision in hindsight. Maybe Trevor ends up good enough to be worth it, but that was pretty bad.

Rumor is he's gone if they lose on Sunday morning (630am our time)

Sounds like he has nothing to worry about, then.

Can I add the Dak , Mike McCarthy and Zeke Elliott experiment to the list?
