Scoot Henderson
As of today… Scoot Henderson is regarded as the #2 pick in next years draft. If the Piston fall to number 2 and they take him, how does the team move forward. Trade Cade, Trade Ivey, keep all 3?
How do you see it?

Keep all three, especially because may be out for the year. Though the Pistons bet is Wemby at 1, it’s Scoot and Miller after that!

Re: Scoot Henderson
If Scoot is indeed a 6'2" Westbrook clone, it's really hard to imagine him playing with Ivey and Cade. That's a really small perimeter of guys that can't shoot threes very well. Not to mention a shortage of touches.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Trade back to #3 or #4 for a future pick haul and then draft Amen.

Re: Scoot Henderson
I guess I struggle to see *why* a 6'2 so-so shooter who doesn't play great defense is worth the #2 pick. Because he's an inefficient volume scorer? So's Colin Sexton. Should we add him?
I dunno, it's early in the process, but I'm not convinced Scoot will be the projected #2 when this is all said and done.

Re: Scoot Henderson
it's an interesting question for sure. the prospects still have a full season to play so things can definitely change but right now i'll assume the draft is tomorrow...
scoot isn't the calibre of athlete that morant, ivey or westbrook are but he's in the tier just below and his bball IQ and skill are on par or better than those guys as prospects. his game is kind of a blend of ivey's and cade's, where he has the athleticism to get to where he wants but plays under control like cade (and has a good mid range game).
there's an entire season yet to play and any of the talented lottery-bound wings could end up better players than scoot but at this point henderson showing how advanced his game is at such a young age is extremely promising. if the draft were tomorrow i'd take him and just have a 3-guard rotation with cade, ivey and scoot. someone's gotta start off the bench but they can finish games together.

Only factor in need if all other things evaluation-wise are equal.
You draft for bpa if you have a chance at guys like these and make trades later for fit that net you assets as well.

Salvation on that 4-5 position for years to come. Package Bey Stewart and anyone else foe a legit 3… wow.

Was watching Keyonte George last night and could see him becoming another Beal/Mitchell type of Combo Guard as well.

You have to draft him and just let them duke it out and trade the guy comes in 3rd unless the right trade comes along

This is how I feel he's a good prospect but I don't see him locked at 2 yet let the other guys play firstKalamazoo317 wrote:I guess I struggle to see *why* a 6'2 so-so shooter who doesn't play great defense is worth the #2 pick. Re: Scoot Henderson
Scoot is so beyond Colin Sexton at balancing scoring/distributing and controlling the pace of a game.
The physical tools are definitely top 1% percentile for PGs but his mental is more inline with a more cerebral PG like CP3. Even developing an elite midrange like him.

Cade is perhaps better suited for SF anyways in todays NBA less chasing around small quick guards.... unless he decides to take off 10 lbs and get back to that rookie playing weight to increase quickness.

Yeah Sexton is a terrible comp. Scoot can score but hes also going to be an elite passer. Like a potential league leader in assist type pg. High iq i like the cp3 comp.
Also he has the tools to be a good defender. Its hard to say how good he will be because hes 18. That said I expect hes a two way player long term.

Re: Scoot Henderson
I’ve already said this in the draft thread. I take Scoot and ill trade Ivey/Cade if the fits not there. Im not passing an elite prospect because of what we have.
Im aiming to get a better player then Cade and Ivey in the draft. We are no where near set on talent right now. If the best guy is a pg im taking him.

Amen is really tough. He looks amazing.
But he’s playing against highschool prep players that wouldn’t make most division 1 schools.
His shot is broken. He will have to completely rework his shot.
He’s got the elite athleticism and size though. The defensive potential is there, but man is that a risky pick.

Re: Scoot Henderson
The impatient fan in me says trade Scoot for a haul and take a better fit like Cam Whitmore.
The objective fan knows always take best player available and figure it out later. Scoot is going to be best player available. Dudes a stud. Better prospect than Jalen Green was.

Re: Scoot Henderson
Good to hear that Scoot is bringing more than just scoring. I haven't heard much about his playmaking skills previously, so that's good to hear.
