Game 18: Utah Jazz (11-6) @ Portland Trail Blazers (10-5)

Post#1 » by FJS » Sat Nov 19, 2022 6:03 pm

Jazz @ Blazers

1st vs 2nd in the west.

Yesterday we were 4th or so, but winning to the 2nd we gain their position. If we beat them, we'll be first another time.

Kudos to this team.

Lauri only starter to score in the first..... Has that ever happened before?

I hope Conley is back soon. We won this game, but we only had 23 assists and nearly gave the game away in the fourth.

Not a terribly good win but at least puts an end to any tanking hogwash for a while.

Conley out is a huge loss.

After being playing poorly in the 1st, being back to back, this was a nice come back.

Beasley and THT are growing. THT is not efficient, but he is doing better overall.

In the other hand Sexton is doing worse... and I hope this Conley injury is nothing serious.

We have played vs every playoffs team and playin in team in the west

Nuggets 1-1
Suns 1-0
Grizzlies 2-0
Mavs 0-1
Blazers 1-0
NOP 1-0
Clippers 1-0
Wolves 1-0

Only we have not played vs Kings.

being 12-6 after this kind of schedule is amazing.

Last year we were too 12-6, but after playing a few weak teams and more home games.

But last year Jazz was going to fight for the ring. Wasn't very good on that. This year this are at long last start highly anicipating by many fans tanking. And proved to be even worse in that!

I even think that Jazz is worst tanking team ever.

Snip:
FJS wrote:...Beasley and THT are growing. THT is not efficient, but he is doing better overall.

THT is growing on me. He plays really hard on both ends of the floor and he is a decent playmaker. Over the last six games, he is averaging 4.7 ast and 1.3 tov in 18.6 mins. Over the last six games, he has the second highest plus minus/game for Jazz players at 7.5 points. If he ever starts hitting shots at a respectable percentage, he will be a darn good player.

Sexton has a long ways to go to become a positive player, but there was an article on NBA.com yesterday where Conley reported he was spending a lot of time with Sexton going over film. If we are lucky, some of Conley's expertise will begin to rub off on Sexton.

Ironically, in that same NBA.com article yesterday, Conley was talking about how physically fit he is and how great he is feeling. Conley jinxed himself and went on to get an injury on the very same day the article came out. :(

Yep, Clarkson scored 15 pts on 6 fga for Q4, including 8 points on 3 fga in the last two minutes of the game! That is a pretty remarkable performance. Congratulations Clarkson! I don't recall Mitchell ever scoring 8 points in the last two minutes of a game.

At the same time, I don't want to have to rely on Clarkson to go one on one to save us at the end of multiple games, and hope Conley comes back asap to help move the ball around. Go Jazz!

We don't really have a closer, or a "go to" guy. That's why I have some concerns on the long term success.

Maybe it'll be Lauri. We'll see. As much as I love JC, and think this is his best year, he really is a streak shooter.

That would be a legitimate concern if Utah wasn't loaded with assets they could use to trade for or draft that player.
New York said Mitchell wasn't the guy you trade the sink for, then they traded it for Mikal, lol.

Everyone keeps talking about this player we are going to use our assets on to trade for that will make us serious contenders. Who is that? What player is it that we are getting? Name please.

This whole idea of banking on getting someone in a trade- who doesn't even actually exist for this team- is so crazy. It's the same as me saying I'm a millionaire. Just have to win the lottery in the future, but I'm a millionaire.

This isn't really directed at you Cappy_Smurf per se, I'm just tired of hearing that argument. It is a more unreliable/unkown than the draft is.
