Knee hyperextension with tissue damage, yeah it's ugly.

The silver lining in this is that MAxi, who's underrated on this board, masks a lot of Mavs defensive problems, this will force the team to find solutions, also offensively, and will get Wood his fair chance, which he didn't get until now.
If the Mavs somehow make in the months he's missing, they'll be able to develop an identity, which they lack until now.

Underrated on this board? Nobody here wanted to trade him for Markkanen

A good defender 6+3 guy...honestly i don't think our season will fail for his absence.

He provides us with many things that stats don't show. He will be missed.

Mavs are 1-5 w/ him, he played at the level of JJJ in the PO

Missing Green and Maxi short term was already huge but this is a significant problem now. Maxi is the the best rim protector and a wing defender. Sucks to lose him for extended time.

We don't know enough to say anything. If it's completely torn hamstring then his season is more less over. But it can be much smaller injury too. I don't see any grades here.

OMG absolutely no. JJJ is another level player.

He will be missed for sure but that's not a tragedy, it's only bad because our other bigs not named Wood are trash.

You know you have roster construction issues when a guy that averages 6 points, 3 rebounds with solid defense being out has fans saying your season is now crippled. Don't get me wrong, Maxi is a solid player and important to the rotation but he's a role player. Literally every team would just say "oh well, next man up." I have no idea who that next man up even is on this team.

Yes, GSW will miss Curry for few weeks and I guess they're less desperate. ;)

Pretty huge blow. He was the only big you can pair with Wood in the lineup.

Almost looked like a blessing in disguise last night. Especially with Powell leaving that game early it forced Kidd to go to Wood. Powell and Maxi are not the answer in the playoffs, they proved that last season against Kevon Looney, they were so bad that's why we signed JaVale

So they have to rule him out for the season in order to apply for an DPE, right?

Maybe Calvin Booth can still play.
