Ty Lue has gone from top 5 coach to worst in the NBA in one year.

The Clippers have lost 3 in a row exactly for the same reasons. Lue has become Doc 2.0 where he refuses to change lineups, not play favorites, and close games with the right guys. The Clippers are 1 loss out of the 8 seed and if they lose as is likely next game they will be only 2 wins above .500 at the halfway area.

He keeps barely playing Zubac, Mann, Kennard in the 4th, instead going with Wall, Jackson, Morris. Covington has hardly played this season despite losing close games to many wing heavy teams. He’s playing 4 guard lineups, which instantly get destroyed.

Now the beat writers are even venting on Twitter consistently about his coaching. Today, the best Clippers beat writer IMO asked Lue about this stuff… and he seems completely delusional.

Has Lue lost his mind? How do you go from being a coach who’s known for different lineups and trying things to such a low IQ, rigid coach that refuses to adjust?

Very frustrating, we are horrible at rebounding in the 4th quarter. We need to trade Morris, he's decent when his shots are falling but a lazy on defense and doesn't make many smart decisions.

Yeah…idk wtf is going on with his rotations, the roster is basically fully healthy for the first time in ages and he chooses now to get cute with crap.

Mann def needs to play more, hell even Amir Coffey should be getting burn, along with Covington too. Morris is decent when his shot is on and he can move his feet on defense but he along with Jackson need their minutes reduced. Zu maybe as well.

Lue simply didn't just lose his powers in one season....be patient. There's a lot that goes on in trying to manage these dude's egos who all think they should play 30mins a night. Ty Lue deserves the benefit of the doubt when it comes to this stuff because he's proven time and time again that he's elite when it counts.

I think Ty Lue is a perfect coach for a loaded contender. He relates well and gets buy in from stars.
The Clippers without Kawhi are an average team, far from a contender. Even with him there are holes to fill in. it's not as simple as looking at a roster and saying instant contender.

I don’t think he’s all of a sudden become bad. He was just heavily overrated by some media scribes for being some kind of adjustment wizard when in reality in-game and mid-series adjustments are a bit of a crapshoot and he just happened to have struck gold with a couple of notable ones.

If you strike gold multiple times, is it really luck or you just being good?

On the evidence of the rest of his career including this year, I’m leaning towards luck. Not saying he’s a terrible coach, but the top 5 coach in the league talk was always over the top in my opinion.

Sounds like he's good and has a hater.

Lue is likely trying to test some things out for the long-term that aren't paying off right away or he's getting instructions from on high (medical or GM) to make some temporary moves that won't be what we see in the playoffs.

Coaches often do a great job of allowing veterans that expect to get minutes to fail repeatedly so they don’t become a locker room problem when they lose their minutes.

This was my concern for the Clippers and the Celtics/Warriors to a lesser degree, you can become too deep especially when your young up and comers are the ones who can't get minutes. Guys like Kennard, Mann and Zubac would have bigger roles on most teams and keeping them behind some of the more washed vets is the right thing for the locker room long-term, but it risks losing the buy in from the younger guys.

Our much bally-hooed and so called "depth" is ruining Ty Lue. He doesn't know which way to turn and is still tinkering and experimenting with line ups three months into the season. PG & Kawhi in and out of the lineup. Too much terrible small ball lineups. Wall not really panning out, Reggie and Morris are long past their prime, and kids like Boston and Diabate need to play but its too many old heads in front of them on the depth chart. I'll be shocked if this team can put it together and make a run past the all star break

He's actually got issues with rotations and some good problems, he's slightly tinkering and its natural,

This. I assume this is what happened with Carmelo in OKC, Westbrook/Cousins(DEN) last year.

This is literally what all coaches do. You can replace Lue with X coach in the thread title, and the corresponding fanbases would nod along to it.

Is Marcus Morris really expected to lead the Clippers in rebounding? His career average is 4.6 and he lead the team with 7 rebounds against the teams last game against Miami.
