I’d also like to see more Thybulle, but it’s not totally clear where the minutes will come from. He’s already playing in front of Furkan and House. I’m not going to play him over Milton or Melton. The minutes between him, Niang, and Tucker should probably come down to whether we need more defense, shooting, or rebounding in a given matchup. Rebounding was a problem for us early on, which probably made Thybulle hard to fit into lineups.

I think Matisse has earned and will get more minutes. He’s just gotten pinched a bit because Shake has been good & Niang is shooting the lights out.

I think it’s a good thing that he’s had to earn his rotation spot after a career of just being gifted minutes because he had a pulse.

The curious case of Thybulle: he sucks, yet many Sixers fans still want to increase his minutes.

The only thing I'm curious about regarding Thybulle is how much we can get for him in a trade.

Thybulle has shown flashes of being useful offensively. He just has zero leash this year, which I think has a lot with Glenn coaching for his job. They need his defense. Niang will cool off soon, and then Thybulle plays ahead of him.

Niang is 40.6% from 3 for his career. He's shooting around his averages.

Hush your mouth non believer. Niang will never cool off. This is blasphemous and shameful talk.

When the press finally found a player who’s worse than Thybulle. It’s PJ.

I still trust PJ more then I do Thybulle come play-off time.

Yes come playoff time I except prime defensive PJ. But I have never seen a player get the ball out of his hands faster than PJ does right now.

Imagine this dude can shoot like Niang. This team would be complete.

You look at how a team like Boston will play us down the stretch in the playoffs, I suspect it will look a lot like how Indiana played us this week: spreading the floor and Halliburton and Mathurin taking turns in iso. Except Halliburton and Mathurin aren’t good enough to make that strategy pay off (unless Doc plays PJ and Trez together again). Tatum and Brown would be a different story. I think a 2-3 defender like Thybulle will be more valuable than a 3-4 defender like PJ in the playoffs. Let’s hope he can provide enough offense to be viable.

Mathurin/Halliburton were doing that also because Embiid was not in there. Imagine if Embiid was there, their strategy would have been 50% less effective.

I like Tisse and I also dont understand him not getting PT. Except because we promised PT to Tucker and House Jr.

Matisse was a passable playmaker in college and a reliable shooter in 3 of his 4 seasons at Washington. The fact that he hasn't developed at all lends one to assume his work ethic is dogcrap.

I think it’s more of a reminder that you have to temper your growth curve projections for 4-year guys. He was a passable playmaker and shooter compared to other potential draftees because he was older. But he might just not have much more ceiling. Same story with Paul Reed, and by all accounts, he’s an insane worker.

I also agree Tisse is probably not one of those fanatical workers like Maxey.

I think there's a reasonable case that he should be starting, particularly if you're in the "Maxey and Melton are too small to start together" camp, and the choice is between him and PJ.

He just seems a lot more confident when he's in the starting lineup, and playing next to Harden and Embiid allows him to get wide open looks and some sneaky backdoor stuff.

I imagine the biggest issue for him getting playing time is that the team no longer views him as a viable playoff option with how teams guard him, but that hasn't stopped them from giving substantial roles to Trez and Niang.

I'm a believer that consistently demonstrated traits should carry over.

On paper, his defense/playmaking/shooting should have translated in some capacity so the fact that only his defense has seems like he's underachieved immensely.

I think part of it is this team wants a different level of shooter. Look at the % of our shooters.

Personally, I dont mind Thybulle’s shooting. He can just be hunting for lobs or backdoor cuts because the paint is so wide open with our guys.

The problem with Thybulle is he is not reliable on defense down the stretch for he gambles too much. He also is a bad rebounder.

That said, the guy who should have more playing time is Reed. And Reed should play more with Embiid and with Harrell. Let your talented scorers figure it out. Its not gonna work instantly, but once we figure it out we’re gonna be a lot better in the long run

He might have the quickest hands in the nba with the best anticipation of disrupting the passing lanes. Unfortunately doc dosent play him much and he will probably be all defensive team on his next team after he gets traded
