How does Kirilenko's defensive peak compare alltime
How does Andrei Kirilenko's defensive peak compare alltime?
His defensive and total peak seasons are 04-06.
Also In 2005 his metrics were: 117OR, 102DR, 24.4PER, 59.9ts%, 3.5ows, 2.0dws, 5.5ws, .197ws/48, 9.2bpm, 3.8vorp, +3.3 on court, +12.1 on/ off. Only 41 games played but those numbers look elite.

I think Andrei is one of the more underrated players of the 2000s, no doubt. Out of players whom are "non-bigs", I would say AK would be the fifth best defender - behind Pippen Rodman Leonard and Jones.. where he is by no means far himself. Presumably a top 2 non-big rim protector along with Bobby Jones.
A cool video I found on YouTube:

If he had eight seasons like his three year peak he'd be a top 10 defender alltime and top 5 in the 2000s.

I think he may have a case for top 20, but I have made such list that long. Any top 10 talks overrate him too much.

Best non-center rim protector ever at his peak.
This place is a cesspool of mindless ineptitude, mental decrepitude, and intellectual lassitude. I refuse to be sucked any deeper into this whirlpool of groupthink sewage. My opinions have been expressed. I'm going to go take a shower.

Re: How does Kirilenko's defensive peak compare alltime
I have him as the best defensive player who never played a significant amount of time at C at peak (just ahead of Pippen, Jones, Rodman - Millsap?).
That likely leaves him outside the top 10 alltime, but could put him just inside the top 20. Off the top - Mikan, Russell, Wilt, Thurmond, KAJ, Gilmore, Eaton, Laimbeer?, Hakeem, Ewing, Robinson, Mutumbo, Duncan, KG, Howard, Chandler?, Draymond, Gobert, Davis?, Embiid?, JJJ?.
Did I miss anybody extremely notable there?
Longevity is lacking, so career drops a bit.

Kawhi Leonard
Intentionally omitted, I have him a half step behind the above. Maybe excepting Pippen/Millsap.

What suggest that Kawhi Leonard is not at least in the same tier as Tyson Chandler, Joel Embiid, Laimbeer?

Cowens, Walton, Mourning
For non-centers, DeBusschere should be up there.

Good mentions. Marc Gasol and Noah came to mind as well.
Stokes got some noise as a potential all-timer, but I haven’t seen enough to say.

How good was he as a lockdown man-defender? A bit random but he seems like he would be really good against someone like KD with his insane length and mobility at his size. Obviously might have more problems against someone really strong 1on1, but I'm wondering how he stacks up to the best perimeter defenders ever in that regard.

His list of non-centers is all forwards, though it's missing guys like Nance, Marion, DeBusschere, etc. too.

I remember him doing solidly against Kobe in their younger years, as he aged Kobe seemed to get advantage of him more often (AK slowed more than Kobe it seemed).

How could I forget about Gasol, he's certainly there.

Re: How does Kirilenko's defensive peak compare alltime
I can only imagine how good the Jazz would've been if Kirilenko was three years older and came into the nba three years earlier. With him at SF think the 2000 and 01 Jazz compete for the championship. In the late 90s he'd have put them over the top. Reckon they'd beat the Bulls 96-98, they'd have been that good.
