Re: But out and buy out market thread.
Barton's as good as gone the only thing to see is how much money we save by doing so.
Next is do we cut ties with Taj. Doubt any money gets saved here. But getting another spot would be nice.
Nunn, hasn't played terrible for us. But could we shave a mill or a few hundred K off our tax room for someone else buy getting rid of him? Maybe!
Todd and gill buy outs? I doubt we do anything with Gill, he is a good locker room guy. But Todd at this point should just be waived and stretched. There are a couple of contract things you can do here to save some money and the last year of his deal it a team option so, negotiable.
Personally I think we can make some moves. Cut some dead weight and add some more guys to take a look at and help us win.

Re: Buy out market thread.
I don't see anyone else being bought out. The only reason Barton is being bought out is because they wanted a roster spot for Goodwin and they also wanted to free up a two-way spot for Jackson. (And they were probably trying to engender good will with Barton's agent.)
The team is still competing for the playoffs, not going into tank mode. The only reason to buy someone else out is if they really think they have a guy in the G-League who is clearly better than the vet they would buy out. And I'm not talking about Jackson. He is already on the roster so there would be no need to dump Dunn to make room for him. There would have to be ANOTHER guy better than a veteran in the rotation.
Also, in a buyout, the player leaving usually only leaves maybe $1M on his contract on the table because he thinks he can at least get a pro-rated vet-minimum contract somewhere else. So if we buy someone out and then replace him with a vet-minimum guy ourselves, we don't actually save any money.

Getting rid of None would be addition by subtraction. Each of his wasted minutes could and should go to someone who either helps us win games (middle build strategy) or who might have a future as an asset for us or in a trade.
In Rizzo we trust

Goga would be intriguing. I view him as a better prospect than Carey and capable of eating into Taj's minutes. A bit an Enes Kanter, er Freedom clone as he's pretty skilled out to 15 ft. Defense has to improve to have any real long term prospects.

They should by out Nunn. Give Goodwin his minutes and have Jackson eat what's left. Davis needs to stay in the G-League for now. Maybe give a two way to Dunn, he's earned it I think.

I would love to have Goga on the contract that we inexplicably handed to Todd. Still some upside there

Huh...Goga is nothing like Kanter. Goga profiles as a high level defender as a drop center with poor shooting/scoring numbers, but projects to be a better shooter and has real solid passing chops.
Basically, he is a poor mans Nurkic, for now, and we should be all over him.

Profiles as a high level defender? When? I'm pretty sure his defense is part of the reason why he got released.

I don't see that -- can you explain your view?
Bitadze has played @ 2000 NBA minutes over 4 years & will turn 24 in July.
Don't know for certain, but it kind of looks like the books is closed on him in the NBA. He's mostly an inside player, but he can't shoot FTs.
The single best predictor of NBA success in an outstanding Freshman (& especially Freshman & Sophomore) year in a college program playing in a highly competitive league. It's not a 100% predictor, of course. Nothing is. Sometimes it's totally wrong. But, it's still the single best.
Vernon Carey Jr. had a killer Freshman year at Duke.
He's only played @180 NBA minutes. He's still only 21 -- turns 22 in a couple of weeks.
Between Vernon Carey & Bitadze, I'm pretty sure I'd rather have Carey. & I certainly wouldn't cut Carey to pick up Bitadze.

Count me in. He's played very well in the G League.

Re: Buy out market thread.
I wanna see Carey actually get rotation minutes. Maybe Porzingis will miss some extended time at some point and Carey can be the backup C. He’s developed into a really good passer in the g league. Putting up ridiculous numbers and can legitimately space the floor and create his own offense off the dribble.

Given the balancing act of trying to make the play in game and still keep our draft pick, I'd like to see a back court that would both ensure and equal our win totals in the play-in games and postseason: Nunn and Dunn.
