Westbrook is here! How do we make this work?

Mann is killing it, Norm is killing it, the new additions are great, wtf are we doing? Either this will be good or we crash and burn :noway:

Westbrook will sign with Clippers

Post#2 » by PeteyPablo » Mon Feb 20, 2023 5:00 pm

There are threads on the general board but wanted to make one here if you do not mind.

My initial thought was to not disrupt the starter's chemistry that has been built up over the last weeks and winning.

But I suppose I will let the basketball experts decide what they want to do.

Thoughts?

Hopefully there's an understanding as to what's what already in place. Kawhi had to sign off on this so it is what it is. Mann better stay in the starting five. Looks like this pushes Bones out of the rotation. If Russ actually plays well this could potentially be box office for the team. We'll see

Hopefully the fact that this might be his last chance in the NBA, as well as a golden opportunity to stick it to the Lakers, is enough motivation for Russ to rein in his bad habits. Lue's certainly not going to do that with his coaching.

Either way, this should be the last time the FO signs one of PG's buddies. They've been bending over backwards to assemble the All-PG's Friends Team for years now. If PG still can't get it done in the playoffs, there's no more excuses.

Only positive I see is, the Clippers have shooters and the reason he was so bad on the Lakers is because they didn't have shooters. Russ in a limited role being able to get in the paint and kick it out like he played in Houston surrounded by shooters could be beneficial. But he has to know his place, that's the main thing.

This is a HUGE mistake. We finally have something positive going the last 2 games with the new additions, and now this. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Well there was a tweet from like 4 days ago where Preston was changing his number from 0 to #17 so we kind of saw this coming

So they just said FU to Lawrance Frank? PG&Mook&Lue won. I mean this was all over the press conferences last week.
I hope this means Morris goes to bench and Mann still in the starting line-up, but not really. If so, this season is over for me.

Westbrook plays solid defense and when he attacks the rim he’s dangerous as a passer & finisher. Like someone said, we have the shooting, so we definitely don’t need his jumpshot! In general I’m not a fan of him but willing to give this a chance since there’s no other choice. I predict it works out better than most expect.

Looking forward to the next Denver game as a true test of what we have now. They’re the best in the league & the Memphis games too

I’d started warming up to it since it seemed all but official once he was traded.

Trying to keep an open mind and see what his role will be. Lue certainly has adjusting to do again.

Let’s hope a motivated Westbrook and pre Lakers stint is what we’re getting.

Hmm. Reading more. Law Murray says sources tell him Westbrook will start but not right away. Woj says he has a very clear and specific role.

The team loves analytics and Mann in the starting unit is killing it. Giving him a bench role and less minutes is beyond dumb.

Alright, Ladies & Gents' - time to have some fun...

Not sure how this will go.. but as long as Russ' has a tamed role, and picks his spots decently... I think it'll make the team better.

If his mind is put to it, he can really make an impact and does not need to score much on this team. He really doesn't.

We'll see. I am like the rest and have been enjoying the new pick ups fit and confidence on both ends.

The Clippers became increasingly interested with Westbrook as team officials, including coach Ty Lue and president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank, dug into a series of conversations with Westbrook, sources said. Those discussions centered on Westbrook's willingness to fit into a clear and specific role with the Clippers built around his playmaking, rebounding and toughness, sources said.

Focus on that primarily, and things will be fine.. Would love to see that kind of Russ. Russ and Mann as hustling energy guards who can score when needed would be pretty damn fun to watch.

Russ and Jamal Murray will get into it, and that will be great.. just hope he isn't cooking Russ too much.

This is bad news for Bones. He was trying to get out of Denver because of the lack of minutes and now depending on Westbrook’s play, he might see the same lack of playing time. Hopefully this doesn’t diminish his confidence.

Clippers love to ruin the very things that actually work for them because it's too mundane, too boring, too predictable. Too expected. By that I mean, when we expect them to do what we want them to do and how to do it, they instead disregard those suggestions and go for something a little more gusto, fun, thrilling, entertaining, suspenseful. As if they were Darkwing Duck:

Yeah, they're being stubborn. They feel that they have to be daredevils like Evil Kinevel just to be loved, respected and worshiped like Lakers. They still let personal emotions get in the way of business.

It's going to take a Paul George ejection for Clippers to see this is not the way. And that would lead to a George trade.

Remember, if George gets ejected from a game, Thunder win the trade by default.

So he's going to start and most likely take minutes from Tmann? Not happy about that at all. If we had a stretch Big in the starting lineup it would be fine but we don't.

Gotta keep the Mann, PG, and Kawhi starting trio going no matter what. Its starting or was starting to become something special. Russ either moves Morris to the bench if he starts or he goes to the second unit.

I don't think he cares whether a team needs his jumpshot or not. He'll take the shot. and miss it...

ok well, now that this team is done and dusted let me focus on my nfl team instead. oh wait i forgot, there is another washed up Russ waiting for me, how fun

sometimes the best you can do as a sports fan is to realize it's not sports if at least some teams don't do things that are self destructive and horrible ideas.

go clippers, or something. not like we have much choice
